President Obama comments on health reform at the AFL-CIO Labor Day Picnic in Cincinnati.

He began the speech by commenting on labor in general, as well as the economy, when he switched the subuject. "Just in case you were wondering," he says, "we're also going to build an America where health reform delivers more stability and security to every American." He declined to go into detail, advising the crowd to tune in on Wednesday night.

While he remarked that the debates on health reform have been "good," he said that "every debate at some point comes to an end... It's time to act and get this thing done."

Obama also had a challenge to Republicans opposed to health reform: "What are you gonna do? What's your answer? What's your solution? And you know what? They don't have one! Their answer is to do nothing."

That's the kind of fighting talk we heard during the election! :fistbump:

I missed this speech, but that little snippet sure got me fired up! To hear President Obama advocate for the Public Option was glorious music to my ears.

2. I'll wait until Wednesday
but i'm not convinced yet. What'll it take? Maybe something like, "...and just to set everybody's mind at ease, I'm happy to report the resignation of my Chief of Staff, Rahm Emmanuel, effective immediately." We'll see.

3. Would love to see that happen. I gave him a chance when he started but Rahm is poison.

12. Nah,
for you and many other "progressives" on this board, nothing the man says is every going to convince you.

If he passes the grandest bill of all many of you will still find something to bitch about.

4. I hope he brings that spirit and language with him on Wednesday
I especially liked that he called a spade a spade: the Republicans have been LYING.

10. Republicans offer nothing
to the debate except scare tactics to the elderly and prayers of Failure for our President. They are a diminished party and mean nothing.

Our Party controls the Congress and the White House screw the Repukes that got us in this mess. Just clean it up.

Obama has gone way overboard trying to be Bi-partisan. He extends his hand and the Repigs just smack it away. I am so sick of this. Its time to just get it done.

Why is this even an issue?

13. Obama to RW: "Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry!"
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 03:25 PM by sledgehammer
Hey GOP, you had your chance to work with the President. But instead you spread lies about health reform, smeared the Pres with the "communism/fascist/etc" bullshit, and put the insurance companies above the American people.

Well, now you got him mad! Just hope this fiery attitude stays with him.

PS: Here's the awesome SNL skit about Obama turning into "The Rock Obama". He really needs to do this with the GOP and the Blue Dogs:

14. I really like the look on his face.
I like his shoulders squared and his back straight and tall. I believe he has finally had enough.
He looks pissed.
I'm fervently hoping he's ready to roll and kick some RePuke ass on Wednesday.

15. Damn it feels good!!
First time post'r here.

Man... that clip helped me renew my spiraling hope for reformed health care. The few past months have drained my hopes, my fight, my integrity for HOPE of changing a system that has ran amok many many moons ago. (Those conservatives are really good at this deception/deceiving/public manipulation thing!!) I guess it helped, that I felt the Obama administration was not "acting" strong enough on keeping certain key points in the reform act that was "fundamentally" the reform act. But that speech today... It brought back my hope, that little twinkle in my eye that kicked started the ignition. I'm back!!!

On a side note..
I am sick and tired of the steady stream of hate mixed with extreme self interest (in "Have" versus the "Have not's" sorta way) sprinkled with a truck load of horse manure piled all on top! I just don't see how folks can fall for it??!! Don't even get me started with Beck, the de facto standard for blind and greedy. This all leads to this......

I have found a home.....

Don't let my username fool ya... I had that name before those guys were sling shot'ed to the insame asylum and became a derogatory term so I'm keeping it!!
