asking what was stopping the GOP from coming forward with something - he should have mentioned that they had 14 YEARS to come up with something (while they controlled Congress), and did NOTHING.

6. I have post partisan depression too...
I'm sick of this post partisan nonsense. I'm a partisan and I'm proud of it.

8. so am I - but it is politically more clever to appear compromising and reasonable which

makes the crazies of the Republican Party appear even more insane.

The people who hold the balance of power at the ballot box are not only not partisans, they tend to hold at most only a cursory interest in politics. The sight of a reasonable Democratic Party offering compromise makes an incredible contrast to the birthers, tea baggers, town hall disruptors and the nuts on Fox News and hate radio.

Without this contrast, those voters who will determine who wins the elections - which includes some of the least knowledgeable people on the face of this earth - can only judge by impressions.

But I do have to agree with Representative Frank that the Republican Party is certainly far more extreme than President Obama probably realized. Unfortunately, they are also far more extreme than what most Americans realize. It is a good idea to set the stage for the public to recognize it for themselves.

10. There is a virtue to intolerance
of the intolerable. The racism, bigotry and pigheadedness of republicans has reached the level of intolerability a lot lately. It is also politically clever to show that you have balls and can stand up for something.

9. Damn! Too late to rec but here's a well deserved kick to the top
What he said about bipartisanship was spot on, as were his comments about the "loons" needing emergency mental healthcare!
