5. but the issue isn't whether his beliefs are wrong or right
that are getting the attention (as they should be). it's the issue that he made a rude boorish outburst while the president was speaking.

he has every right to hold a conflicting view, even if it's obviously moronic.

god knows if we could censure congressmen who held moronic views, we'd never get out of hearings.

frankly, im cool with the guy apologizing. what i found ridiculous is some repub congressman (can't recall name) who simply REFUSED to admit that he thought that what wilson did was wrong.

NOBODY, regardless of ideology, who believes in rule of law, respect for the office, etc. can believe anything other than that what wilson did was wrong.

anybody who DOESN'T think it was wrong doesn't respect rule of law, or the office of the presidency.

this guy either didn't think it was wrong (bad) or didn't have the courage to admit that (bad)

7. He called Obama a liar though he didn't. He hasn't apologized for that
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 06:21 PM by rocktivity
It isn't relevant why Wilson believed Obama was lying (an honest mistake? The belief that Obama was mistaken? A deliberate town-hall style attack?). What's relevant is that Obama DIDN'T lie, and to my knowledge, Wilson has yet to acknowledge that.

8. not quite
he actually said that obama's statement was a lie, which is not QUITE the same thing, as any # of internet arguers will agree with.

anyway, the point is that wilson has every right to believe that and to advocate that obama is wrong. he does NOT have the right to do it at the time/place that he did it.

and he apologized for that.

i would not expect wilson to say that obama was speaking the truth, since he clearly believes (or is pretending to for political purposes) that obama is not

there is nothing wrong with a congressman or anybody else holding the view that a president is lying or mistaken.

in fact, it's quite common, and should be, in a system that has seperation of powers and more than one political party.

11. It isn't a matter of opinion the whether the bill covers illegal immigrants
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 08:58 AM by rocktivity
Either it does or it doesn't--and it doesn't. Therefore, Obama neither lied nor--looking at it your way--made a statement that wasn't true while Wilson says that he did.

2. I love Obama he makes me proud
because he is such a kind and generous man. The repuks sat on their hands hoping that he wouldn't take away their manhood. They know he rises above them in every way. Lets all remember that we have such a fine example to emulate. Don't get mad beat them at the game.

4. Censure Joe Wilson for Aiding and Abetting Our Enemies
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 02:55 PM by ThePatriotHour
The implications of the words of Joe Wilson, GOP from S.
Carolina during the President's Speech to a Joint Session of
Congress are far-reaching.
His message to our enemies is that American society has become
so divided, that we are easy targets for our enemies. Until now
the worst, yet accepted, behavior was not applauding. Joe
Wilson has thus aided our enemies, is a Traitor to America,
Must resign at the most, and/or be Censured at the least.
After 230 years of Decorum and Decency, the Republicans have
insulted every REAL Patriot. The Legacy of Joe Wilson will
forever be him calling the President of The United States a
Liar during a Presidential Address to a Joint Session of
Congress.

6. resigning
Wasn't a man named Van Jones recently forced to resign after calling Repugs. assholes? Well they got on national tv last night and proved it. When is Obama going to tear up Van Jones' resignation? How do you get forced out of your job for telling the truth, especially when Joe what's his name got on national tv and proved it? Apparently, there were other's who tried to turn a State of the Union speech into a "tea party" we just didn't see them all. Thanks media.

When will we see Joe's resignation? He not only proved he was an asshole, he's shown us he is disrespectful. The Sr. Members of Congress and the Senate need to take him to the "cloak room" and teach him some manners.

9. Don't forget We the People
Joe Wilson yelled out that President Obama was lying while he was speaking formally to the House, the Senate, and all American citizens, thus breaching a tradition of decorum that has lasted for over two hundred years.

The content of Wilson’s interjection is not the point. As an American citizen he has the right to hold and express opinions which conflict with those of the president, with the facts, even with reason. I can see no need for him to apologize for the inaccuracy of his remarks.

It was in the choice of venue and the manner in which he spoke, that Joe Wilson displayed an unprecedented lack of respect for his Commander-in-Chief, the Congress to which he belongs, the Senators who were his guests, and the American people whom he has sworn to serve.

Wilson has tendered his apology to President Obama (or at least the president’s proxy) and it was accepted. He has also issued a blanket explanation of his actions to the press.

There are three more steps which Congressman Wilson needs to perform before his bad manners should be excused. He must apologize in person to his fellow members in the House, and again in the Senate.

Finally, he must record an apology to the American people, and make copies available to every outlet that broadcast or streamed coverage of the speech that he interrupted.

And then, in my opinion, he may move on.
