During C-SPAN's September 24th, 2002 Washington Journal program, Representative Bob Filner (D-CA) and Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) talked about U.S. policy toward Iraq and congressional resolutions on the issue. Representative Wilson serves on the House Armed Services Committee and is in favor of U.S. military action against Iraq. Representative Filner is opposed to the President's policy on Iraq and is a co-sponsor of a resolution calling for the U.S. to work with the U.N. to "ensure Iraq is not developing weapons of mass destruction" through weapons inspections and "other peaceful means."

1. Once a liar, always a liar.
And I doubt he would now make the same claim (that we didn't sell Saddam his WMDs), but would he apologize for being wrong and for besmirching the reputation of someone telling the truth. I don't think so.

2. This piece illustrates perfectly...
...the failure of the so-called Fourth Estate in the U.S. Rep. Wilson sits there and blatantly lies and is not called out on it. The moderator should have politely, but firmly, corrected him. I particularly despise the Hate America card they consistently play when someone criticizes GOP policy. Upset about selling WMDs to Saddam? You hate America! Upset about My Lai? You hate America! Upset that corporate interests are more important than actual human lives? Why don't you move to France! These despicable people are truly poison to our society.

It has been common knowledge that we gave Hussein weapons for years. Is this guy serious?

9. Wilson is naive as well as lacking passion for his convictions.
He is a unknowledgable milquitoast of a man who uses politics as a hobby. Aristocratic blob.

8. This comment by Wilson fits the Republican debate method perfectly
Wilson just calls Filner a guy who "hates America" without offering facts to counter Filson's assertion, which was factually correct. Facts, unfortunately, have become less and less important in the battle for hearts and minds. This has troubled me for years. Keith Olbermann nailed Wilson when he called him STUPID. Sadly, there are still too many clowns like Wilson involved in government. :dunce:

11. People who believe in 'America right or wrong' will lie to
cover up the truth; its called 'saving face'. They always resort to accusing truthsayers of 'hating America'.
