CBS: For many of the surviving emergency workers who survived the World Trade Center attack on 9/11, the battle is far from over. Karen brown reports on one hero who is fighting for his own life.

Multiple myeloma turning up with unusual frequency with 9/11 first responders.

2. The dust from the trade centre
Contained all kinds of toxins......asbestos, glass, pcbs, vinyls, bits of every substance known to man in what amounts to a pyroclastic cloud. Of course first responders are ill.

3. I wish them comfort and godspeed whatever their outcome, healing or the other.

My father died of Multiple Myloma. It is a horrible illness and death. Perhaps with stem cells there is some headway in treatment, but when he had it in the 90's fatality rates were 90 percent and above. He broke many bones in his body as they rotted away from the inside. He was so strong in life and so frail upon his death.

I could not wish that on anybody.
