2. I really wish Jason Leopold's name wasn't anywhere near this

I remember his "Rove to be Indicted WEDNESDAY!" malarky. Wilson shouldn't have let this guy anywhere near him.

Something happpened about that Rove deal...someday we will know. I give the benefit of a doubt. I think there has been enough criticism of him.

Editors won't do such things if it weren't true. Amazing how some on DU aren't willing to give it a rest, isn't it?

6. Leopold's editors--well, one of them--acted like assholes throughout that whole affair.

If we are going to hold journalists from the other side accountable for their mistakes and outright lies, we have to hold journalists from our side to the same standard. During that fiasco, "Truthout" became synonymous with "Liesout." I completely lost any trust I had in that site and the fawning of DU's subsequent personality cult. Anyone who cares about the truth and journalistic integrity should, at the very least, view Truthout and its abusive staff with a jaded eye.

5. Actually Joe Wilson was quietly on record as supporting Leopold

during the "Rove indicted" fiasco last year, IIRC. Larry Johnson too.

Then both of them sat very quietly and said not a word when Leopold was utterly dismantled by Waas, emptywheel, and fdl at Yearly Kos.

The entire saga was surreal, and it there's a certain bizarre synchronicity to see Leopold interviewing Joe Wilson a year later.

Go figure.
