1. I went to the one in Hartford

That was earlier in the day.

Here's is my report:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=6517328&mesg_id=6526389

I've been shopping this all over DU and my report has resonated with absolutely no one at DU for all the times I permalinked to it in other threads. Makes me feel bewildered and lonely.

ps - the real attendance was probably in the 200 to 300 range. I got the attendance from Tom Scott's speech.

2. Don't fee alone. I have hesitated to open and read anything to
do with the teabaggers this past weekend. I am frustrated by the attention that they get, that's all. Kudos to you for being brave enough to venture into their world.

It's still great that you went - you certainly weren't singin' to the choir. Remember what Howard Dean said? "First, we have to show up."

4. I know how it feels
I did a small rant about the obvious insurance bailout that
President Obama was doing, via mandates, when we need
universal health care, without "for profit"
companies. All I got was sarcasm about my "font's"
and stupid responses. It was like posting on a RW board. Very
frustrating.

5. Thanks
Iwillnevergiveup - that's what has to be done! nice name.

Thanks for the the supportive posts. It is very comforting to get some understanding and appreciation.

I like Howard Dean and find what he has to say makes a lot of sense. One of the benefits to come out of the August Tea Parties is to show all of America how hateful, selfish and ill informed those folks are. And they do not realize they are unwitting pawns in the service of big health corporations that hired freedomworks to guide them on this racist fueled ignorant quest to act even more against their own self interests. (Universal Health Care is in the self interest of every American that doesn't make a six figure salary at a for profit health corporation.)

Are there any astroturf type efforts on the left? Are corporations hiring PR firms to front groups that play lefties like puppets? Just curious.

6. Just read about your Tea Pary experience in Hartford...It's interesting
to me because it's about an hour north and east (I think) from where my yellow-dog Dem sister lives....She lives in Litchfield and I don't know how Repub they are, but she's as blue as blue can get.

New England kind of has the reputation of being Blue, doesn't it?...Even their republican congress people tend to be more liberal than in other parts of the country.

7. Litchfield

Yes, I live in Litchfield County and New England is indeed turning even bluer after 2008.

I live in Connecticut because I feel very much at home here - the countryside is beautiful, and the people are civil and are very well educated, per-capita. I don't think there's any where as many downright mean and hateful people in the Northeast, when compared to other parts of the US.

But, I'm sure there's many other parts of the USA that are equally nice.

Litchfield is about 30 miles west and slightly north of Hartford, which is in the north central part of the state. The NYC suburbs are partly in SW Connecticut, where the extreme big money is. Litchfield Co. has a lot of weekend homes for these wealthy and celebrity people.
