4. Hmmm
While I agree with the premise of the video, I think that there's a slight stretching of the truth going on here. I think that the map that he brought up of the county by county election results of the 2008 is slightly incorrect. It definitely doesn't match up with any other map that I just googled (1s from Fox, CNN, ABC, and NBC). So, I'm not sure where the creator got that map from. Also, while the south is racist, I'm not so sure if its correct to say that the south, "is where all of the anti-Obama hate messages are emanating from" and "the central of the Republican party." I'm not sure where the messages emanate from, but if you know anything about the conservative politics of the south, esp the "old south," is a mismatched hodgepodge of loosely affiliated, uninformed, and unorganized people. So, while I'm sure that many people that live in the south believe these messages, I don't think that that's where they emanate from. And, statistically speaking, I think it would require nothing less than a stretch of the imagination to believe that this is where the "central" of the Republican party. Population wise, it just doesn't add up.

I agree with the points the video makes, but I think that the creator is using deceptive means to convey his opinion. The GOP has always been about race, but it's not "based" in the South. According to census.gov, the "south" makes up 36.4% of the US's population. This includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. Now, according to CNN's 2008 presidential election maps, 6 of those 17 states voted for Obama in the 2008 election. The largest majority was 61% from Alabama, where out of 2.08 million votes cast, a little over 800k were for Obama. Statistically it would be a horrible political decision, even by GOP standards, to anchor themselves in the south. Now, yes, the south is very red, and racism is definitely there, but Republican's are elected all over the country, not just by the south.

This may come as a shock to those that pass judgement on the south always as being racist, but believe me, racists are everywhere. The racism in other areas of the US just has different faces, but it's still racism. I'm not trying to defend the racists in the south, I just think that the "oh those southern racists" arguments are a bit passé. It's unimaginative, played out, and sounds as stupid as the "those east coast liberals" type of arguments that the GOP supporters always puts out just to enrage the "southern racists." (tongue in cheek)
