They want complete control of their content. They want greater DVD sales, iTunes downloads, and ad revenue from international sites that they partner with in posting the content.

But for content such as this, which is not (as best I can tell) available at all from international sites and which has no saleable value in its own right (i.e., no one's going to pay to watch or download), the only value is if it draws eyeballs to your site when you give it away for free. That's true of most Hulu content available in the States (I think), so I don't understand why the model doesn't translate to non-US locations.
