that was refreshing. Actually, I think Rick reached a larger audience than we might think. CNN is on constantly at airports, banks, restaurants, bars. It's not always Fox.

3. Actually, he fell for the trap.
That ad was designed to get those networks to talk about the 9/12 rally again.

Fox News couldn't care less whether they're called liars. They know they're liars.

They just wanted more publicity for the political rally that they organized and paid for.

Well done, Rick.

101. kinda pathetic
Do you guys realize that Rick Sanchez used >5 mins to respond to an printed advertisement that was meant to be inflammatory? I realize that Fox falsely advertised, but responding on air to a print ad just makes CNN look weak. The purpose of an advertisement is to sell a product, not to inform people. It doesn't seem like Rick Sanchez recognizes that distinction.

And they know it doesn't matter. Does anyone really think that Glenn Beck actually believes the horse shit he spews? But their gullible followers will believe any lie and Faux knows it. This must be one of the great truths of propaganda-30% of the population will believe anything they're told.

87. Bingo. So FAUX got nearly 7 minutes of Rick Sanchez reporting

on the TeaBaggers instead of covering that there were only 50-70 thousand protesters instead of the millions that they said had showed up.

Rick either ain't that bright, or maybe he thinks that his viewers aren't that bright.

Bingo. I mean.... now the news is reporting on what the news is reporting....on the reports that the news did for a news sponsored event?

If the news collapses onto itself any more, it will become a singularity... a black hole.

Meanwhile, in Africa, South America, Asia, Europe and in outer space.... absolutely nothing happened. Nothing, no news worth reporting...

anything remotely close to 'fair and balanced'... they are not interested in truth.... they are only interested in creating their own idea of things and their mindless audience just believes whatever they say because it's easier than having to actually do any thinking for yourself or check out what facts are. All the networks covered that stupid propaganda and pony show.... i wish they wouldn't encourage this bs though.

14. That was real anger.
He wasn't messing around. He wasn't showboating, either.

I know they're all "pretty" when they're made-up for television, but those who work in television news truly care about their work. They are journalists - not too distinct from paper reporters - who are dressed up for TV and paid a bit more for it. But deep down, they care about what they were taught in J-school.

And those bad apples, of which there are several in the press, are those bad apples.

Oh - and the Fox News Channel. That's one very rotten apple.

I wonder how many Americans are even aware that is is completely legal to knowingly lie in a news broadcast?

I think we'd all be a little bit more skeptical about all News if we all knew this is the case.

I find it absurd and undermining to democracy that that is the case. It's utterly preposterous!

Fox is making an error if they think they can take on ALL other media simultaneously. They may be big, but not that big. That ad was nothing less than reckless!

I used to think that Murdoch was a businessman. Ruthless, but not one to buy the same snake oil he was selling. Now I'm starting to believe he's a true believer - birther, tea-bagger, and rabid nut sack.

Good for Rick Sanchez.

The other fault with MSM coverage is to pretend there are two sides to a story when there are not. Instead of doing that, Mr. Sanchez calls FOxNews liars, as he should.

It would have been nice if on a few occasions during the last eight years if the MSM had stated the obvious and called Bush, Cheney or any one of many other junta personalities liars on any one of a number of subjects, from the rationale for invading Iraq to putting the American people first when bailing out crooked bankers or their ideas about reforming Social Security.

I like and admire Rick and glad he is there; But about all this coverage...what about the stories they don't cover that are vital to our national security like Sybel Edmonds and many others that might damage the pugs, the corporations and the powerfully connected or benefit the Democrats. CNN is guilty of the same obfuscation that fuks news is; The diff is CNN is much more clever about it (but with the same sinister aims) and brings on a parade of pug dittoheads to lie for them and also lies by omission and innuendo where Fuks just lies outright but has the same a sinister purpose for doing so.

The Palinites that watch FoxNews are really pretty dumb.
One of the Palinites did post on the Palin FB page earlier today bashing 'Ricky Sanchez', so some of them 'hear' about what CNN says about FauxNews.
BUT they really are not very bright....
Yesterday the Palinites on Palin's FB page were outraged that President Obama was reading, as they said: A book by a Muslim named Fareed Zakaria.
None of them appeared to know who Zakaria is or that Zakaria has a show on CNN.
They were hollering about impeaching Obama because he was reading Zakaria's book! ROTFLMAO!

59. no need to investigate further, just hear the name and dismiss him as an evil muslim
That Obama is reading him fits right into their fictional conspiracy narrative that Obama is a secret muslim/ anti-christ. No need to know anything about him except he's a Muslim. Shallow.

I've read Zakaria in Newsweek for years and I find him one of the most clear eyed interpreter of political and economic event in the world writing today. His recent book "the post-american world" reports on the rise of the rest of the world, as our power and influence has waned. He's brilliant, insightful, an original thinker. His background in India, a country with experience in muslim/ christian conflict give him a a unique perspective and understanding of eastern and western views that is so valuable right now. It's great that Obama is reading him. He's what i would call a moderate realist and his views are always penetrating and well researched and tightly reasoned.

The fact that they dismiss him because of his name/background is revealing of who they are. My new favorite quote is from Frank Schaeffer, the former Evangelist who now criticizes the rw Evangelist movement: "you can't reorganize a village to suit the village idiot"

Palin and crowd=village idiots.

46. Fox isn't news.
The fact that they would take out such an ad with such an assertion proves they are not a legitimate news organization. They are clearly a conservative advocacy group and are attempting to influence public policy.

Someone should be keeping records of every minute of their programming and pile up the evidence to some day have them declared a political entity or party or PAC rather than a media business. They would fall under a whole different set of laws, from tax structure to broadcast regulation to FEC oversight. They'd be held to campaign and political finance laws and strict ethics requirements.

48. So Fox News is losing viewership, they plant an ad accusing other cable news
of not being fair and balanced in order to get Fox News mentioned on said other cable news networks. They are ALL whores...every one of them. I get sick and tired of watching them attack each other to bring their ratings up. What a fucking joke and we fall for it every time. Fucking losers.

and if they did they stopped mentioning it by Monday.

*I say protestS because there were two huge days of marches. October 26 2002-I was in DC for that one, and February 13 2003 which was

THE LARGEST EVER PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION WORLDWIDE OPPOSING A SINGLE PERSON OR AN ACTION...EVER

has really surprised me. At first, I didn't give him much
credibility, since he was another MSM talking head. Then he
interviewed Bernie Sanders, without shouting him down (FOX

real news. He doesn't lie about it either. Too bad, I couldn't
get him, or anyone else, to cover the Sibel Edmonds

Where were any of y'all during the anti-war protests? Certainly wasn't any CNN reporters in the streets or doing "tower cam" shots. I don't think I saw one van or camera from any of the major networks anywhere in the area for the 2005 march. Also I was in the press tent for the concert that night and it was all indie and local media from what I could tell.

There's a crawl during this segment about a jury that acquits a coach in the death of an athlete and Rick says it's not surprising since sports trump everything. Soooooo true, we cut and cut our education but the sports programs go unscathed and when you point that out people get nasty.

It's time for all responsible news organizations to take the Fox organization to task.

Obama's shunning them this Sunday is also a good thing.

Bullies only get away with their deeds when everyone else lets them.

MSNBC has done all the heavy lifting thus far. It's high time for CNN, ABC, CBS and the nation's newspapers that are not owned by Murdoch to join in and speak up.

Sanchez deserves high praise. K&R.

104. Two key phrases "Risking their lives around the world" & "REAL news"
Edited on Sat Sep-19-09 04:31 PM by Turborama
On the 1st phrase, I have been having a look at Faux over the past few months to get to know how the enemy is operating and can honestly say that in that time I have not seen ONE story on that NeoCON voicebox that was about something happening outside of America.

To remedy that, is there a Faux news International equivalent to the excellent CNN International channel? No!! Is Faux news spreading it's NeoCON propaganda all around the world - including with approx. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,184837,00.html">100 cable operators in the two largest Muslim populated countries in the world, Pakistan and Indonesia? Yes!

I don't think I need to bother going into the second phrase.
