This is a shocking example of materialism, commercialism, and narcissism in America. We raise a whole lotta spoiled brats....meanwhile, else where on earth....

6. Difficult to watch
At least the mother had the good sense to give the car back afterward--not that she should have bought it in the first place.

7. I got my first car when I was 21
and had a job. My folks loaned me the money and I had to pay it back. I thought they were very generous because they didn't charge interest! I had to pay my own insurance, and the car had to meet their approval. Couldn't find the color and style I really wanted, but found one that was ok--1972 Chevy Nova two door, no ac, an am radio -- man, that was great as far as I was concerned! Kept it 10 years, traded it in with 50K because I usually walked to places.

11. The mom has no one to blame but herself
I'll bet that child grew up having everything handed to her on a silver platter. Kids are by nature narcissistic. It is up to parents to raise them to think of people other than themselves. This woman and all around her have failed. I feel for any future employer this spoiled brat encounters.

Wow! I can't believe that is what passes for entertainment on MTV these days.

For my high school graduation I got a ten speed BIKE to RIDE around college and I was darn happy about it as wells

My mom would have slapped me into next week if I pitched a fit like that after being presented with a gift.

Up at 5:00 AM, breakfast would be a nice warm bowl of FUCK YOU, and the rest of the day would be spent cleaning public toilets in downtown Tijuana. Lather, rinse, repeat.

14. We need to stop telling our children that they are "special."
No one is SPECIAL. No one is DESERVING without MERIT. Yes, we have bred this attitude into our culture. Narcissism indeed.

We need to help our children feel good about who they are. That's all. We don't need to constantly tell them how extraordinary they are. They are not extraordinary - they are just who they are and that should be good enough. There's too much emphasis on self-esteem today. WAY too much... we're breeding generation(S!) of ego-centric people.
