If your memory was fuzzy, this is in regard to the foiled August 2006 plot to bring down as many as 10 US-bound airlines with liquid explosives (that lead to a ridiculous ban on bringing more than 3oz of liquid onto a plane.)

The next time some Right-wing cretin trys and tell you that the war in Iraq has made us "safer" and points to "no bombings on U.S. soil since 9/11", let them know just how much better that must make our allies in Brittan and Spain feel. :(

1. what do they expect if they produce breeding grounds for terrorists 'over there'
we are LESS safe nowadays mainly because we've made the rest of the world angrier and that our homeland security is underfunded and sparse.

2. Richard Clarke needs to do a full 60 or 90 minute special on terrorism
...for America to understand what is really going on. Clarke clearly disagrees with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, with how BushCo has handled this so called war on terror and what he believes would make America safer. These snippets and sound bites and 90 second interviews are just not covering the subject.:wtf:

3. Last person I heard say we were safer was Hillary Clinton. I guess it all
depends on what the meaning of the word "safer" is.

4. That comment may have doomed her.

I wrote about that little comment on my blog. That wasn't the first time she took the Bush position on something.

That was (IIRC) the same debate where Obama said that there is a consensus that "Iran was trying to develop nuclear weapons." ("I doubt you will find very many who disagree")

Both candidates lost my vote that night.
