1. I've Known Michael Moore Was A Fraud Since ...
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 09:50 PM by present and past
he distorted the facts about General Motors layoffs in his first movie "Roger and Me."

One "fact" he presented in that movie was that General Motors CEO Roger Smith refused to grant interviews to any journalist or filmmaker. In truth, Mr. Smith gladly would have talked to Mr. Moore on camera if only Mr. Moore had used the proper approach: sending a postal letter to Mr. Smith in care of GM followed, if necessary, by a phone call during business hours.

Instead, Mr. Moore constantly tried to ambush Mr. Smith. Once this happened on a weekend at an expensive country club that Mr. Moore clearly chose in order to make Mr. Smith look like a bourgeois pig. Sadly, Roger Smith died in 2007 without ever telling his side of the "Roger and Me" story.

Another distortion in "Roger and Me" I recall was Michael Moore's changing the time frame in which the many layoffs occurred. They were over a period of ten years, not two or three. You can find press articles from 1989 that point out the errors and lies in the movie, which was then playing in theaters.

3. You know squat about Roger Smith.
Roger Smith was a scared little coward of a man who ran from most people, including Roger Moore. I saw it with my own eyes while working in the GM Building in the New Center area on Grand Blvd in Detroit.

9.  You believed this corporate bullshit, just like you believed all the corporate lies about "Sicko"
Edited on Mon Sep-21-09 01:51 AM by LaPera
Corporations who have admitted they lied to protect their massive greedy outrageous profits and to continue fucking over workers and the poor to protect their obscene profits.

You didn't research shit, haven't done your homework and yet like the corporate stooges who believe the pigshit the corporations & republicans spew out...but still you'll side with the corporate lies and bullshit...

Dude,....Stop watching Fox news & republican talk radio and do your own research....or all you'll hear is the corporate and their republican whores point of view.

Yes, it's more work for one than to just repeat the corporate lies & bullshit with profit as their lust & motive but at least one doesn't look so hateful ridiculous as well as incredibly gullible, naive partisan & stupid! One should NEVER believe corporate propaganda.

When in every single instance the corporations and their republican bag men are proven liars in order to keep the massive corporate rip=offs & profits continuing while fucking over the people, keeping it all rolling to feed their insatiable greed.....I'm sure you agree...however, if you too believe & agree that greed and selfishness is a good thing then who gives a fuck what you think!!

16. I understood Moore's point very clearly ...
If Moore is going to invoke WWJD as a point of criticism, he needs to look in the mirror and apply that same standard to himself. Otherwise he comes across as a hypocrite and his message gets weakened.

You must plan on being one of those wealthy thieves. Good luck
with that. It takes, no conscience and a desire to harm
people. Many people have no problem with that. I hope you
realize what is really important in life. If we all took
action to overtake these Robber Barons, we would be much
better off, in all ways.

17. I have no such plans ...
I have reached a comfortable point in my life where my career and family are in perfect balance.

I am not a manager and have no desire to be one. If I could keep my current job and pay for the rest of my career I would be satisfied. I do not seek promotions or any more responsibility.

Just because I can recognize Moore's hypocrisy does not mean that I support those that take advantage of others. It just means that I don't like his methods.

By the way, not all CEOs are evil. There are some good ones out there, and I count the CEO of the company for which I work among them. When we were going through hard times he cut his salary to $1 for 3 years, he forbids company excesses for executives like limos / jets and he demands a culture that sees all as equals (for example, not one manager, including himself and all the other top execs, has an office that is bigger than any other manager in the company). Does he make a lot of money ? Sure. But most of it is in stock options that he gets at the same price as everyone else. If he performs bad and the stock goes down, he loses 90+% of his compensation. I have no problem with that.

5. Would Jesus charge for a ticket to his sermon?
I don't expect Michael Moore to live his life like Jesus. So why does he expect that of others?

8. You don't get it. Moore doesn't expect them to live like Jesus. Instead Moore is trying to point
out what predators the Wall Street bankers are and contrast that to the standards and values that Jesus set.

12. You are right, I don't get it.
Why would I listen to a guy who has never spent one day of his life practicing what he preaches.

He has used capitalism very successfully his entire career. He is running commercials. Commercials!!!!!

Don't you see the irony in this at all!

which is bulls**t, there is a difference between someone like Michael Moore using the system as it exists to do a social good as opposed to the scumbags on Wall Street making life a misery for a great many people.

21. Yeah, but then their false dichotomies don't work...
Moore was making the same observation that Ghandi made eons ago: Jesus was supposedly a cool dude, too bad his followers kind of suck at being like him even when they try to shovel stories about him down our throats, while expecting us to comply to his standards, the same standards they gladly ignore for their own lives.

Had these concern troll been around when Ghandi made those observations, they would have gone off on the fact that Ghandi was not a Christian, and thus, under their very own selective benchmarks, not qualified to make any observations on Christians and their hypocrisy.

10. Who paid for the last supper?
Or every other one before that.

Or did they live on a commune?

That would make them commies I think.

Penniless hippies even.

22. I don't think he was asking them to stop...
... he was simply pointing out their hypocrisy. Whether they stop/change doing what they do, is up to them... and their responsibility ultimately.

Even unabashedly spewing their conservative pride song: "I got mine, whadda I care about yours???"

I was about to post the same observation, love to see the people with a couple posts coming en force with their false dichotomies, red herrings, and all sorts of other intellectually dishonest discussion mechanism.... all in the name of, get this, intellectual honesty.
