TYT excellent goals for them and for the DU! |

If you have a couple minutes, listen and think about this. Don't you agree, this should be OUR goal too?

1. We hear about 3 sides in Congress Republican, Progressives and Blue dogs... |

It's likely even without a Republican party there would still be a debate. Once margins are large enough they can break off and form their own party to make all things democratic that works. If all I care about is Democrats being elected it's great, he's right. :) Although the right kind of Democrat at least.
As much as I have my disagreements with some policy I wish sometimes he'd ease up a little p using the word "weak." It's not the way to encourage strength, it's more by being inspirational is. I just wish he'd ease up with that word it's kind of damaging. Half the reason they end up that way is by being told that from both sides. If any person is told something enough times they start to believe it. Mostly at times they need to know they've got our back. STRONG DEMOCRATIC PARTY grrr woof go bite 'em. }(

2. I think it's hilarious that the DLC does the Republican's job for them. |

Cleans up their messes. Handles the economy, lowers the defecit and uses fiscal conservative values...yet who are the paragons of fiscal conservatism according to everyone but reality? Why the Republicans.

For example, why present a HCR bill, one that has already been decimated by compromise and concession, to Congress for additional opportunity to amend? Why not a bill that has all the bells and whistles? The Dems need to think strategically. I'm probably having pipe dreams, and am not entirely clear on Parliamentary Procedure, so I don't know if the following is doable. Obviously the proposed bill as it stands now is a huge (IMO, unacceptable) compromise and a gift to insurance companies. When the final, abysmally weak HCR bill is presented, what if all the Dems waited to cast their votes until after the pukes cast their inevitable 'noes'? When it's perfectly clear to the American public and the Blue Dogs that even with tons of ridiculous concessions, the HCR bill has no bipartisan (opposition) support. The Dems could then either withdraw the crappy bill if that's procedurally allowed, or vote 'no' also. Then they could be ready to immediately present a beefed-up bill with all the concessions removed - one that includes single-payer, etc. - to shove down the pukes' throats. The Democrats have the power. They should use it forcefully and by doing so, clearly say "fuck you" to the pukes. This will also make it easier to push forward repeal of DOMA and DADT and other progressive/liberal issues. Show 'em who's boss.

4. The sad fact is that we need campaign reform worse than.... |

...health care reform. Real, substantive and BULLETPROOF campaign reform would make health care reform SO MUCH easier to do!

5. The last 9 months have convinced me campaign finance reform is make-or-break.... |

although I've been wondering how that works in terms of which candidates get to receive funding, and how many, etc.
What are the mechanics?

10. I honestly don't know what's been proposed thru the years, but... |
|
...it just stands to reason (something FOREIGN to Washington DC!) that NO funneling of outside, lopsided cash flow would level the playing field and eliminate the chance for corporations to buy the folks they need to do their bidding.

7. We should encourage the sane Republicans to take back their party. |
|
Canvassing has taught me that there are a lot of sane Republicans out there that agree with us on what are the most important problems and surprisingly even on some of the same responses, like support for a strong public option.
The Rahm E's of the world would just have those folks join our party and dilute our efforts but even the sane Republicans come with some baggage. The sane Republicans need their own party because they have zero representation and for that WE all suffer.

11. What does the Democratic Party stand for? |
|
I used to think that the Democrats were about social progress, and the Republicans were about business progress, and together the interplay moved both along. Social progress petered out about 30 years ago. The Democrats have been having a free ride for 30 years without doing a damn thing to justify their existence. It is time for them to officially merge with the Republicans to formalize their de facto capitulation.
This will make way for the Peoples Party, to once again bring social progress back to political agendas. I will never again vote for a candidate who will not champion the removal of corporate money from the elective process.
