It's 3600+ American dead, 26,000+ American wounded, 67,000+ dead Iraqi civilians and $441 billion beyond a joke.

I'm not laughing.

5. K&R
One word for Rove's demeanor: transparent. They don't even try to hide their hypocrisy any more. But still the MSM will kiss their butts.

7. the chutzpah is staggering
I really love how he pretends like he's in on the joke. These men really don't give a sh!t what
people think of them. They've got the power and that's all that really concerns them. When is our
Nuremberg???

10. Well, nearly everyone in the world DID think he had WMD

What Rove neglects to point out was that no one (except the bushies) thought using them was remotely imminent, and no one thought (outside of the bamboozled 50% of our citizens) Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. I thought Saddam had WMD but I did not see any reason at all why use of them was magically imminent, nor did I think they could get to us even if it was imminent. Saddam hadn't done anything to imply that 2002 and 2003 were any different than 1997 or 1998 or 1999... he was quite happy in his kingdom. He had a screw loose and was a bad MF, but he wasn't a total idiot.

12. Nearly no one believed there were WMD --
Granted the propagandists in the White House in conjunction with right-wing media spread that message . . . but it was denied over and again --

In particularly, by the CIA -- who also brought up the point you're making that if they did have WMD, attacking them would make the situation more dangerous!

PLUS the UN inspectors told you repeatedly there were NO WMD in Iraq.

Condi and Powell . . . had just been hanging around noting how safe the world was and how they'd have to invent enemies . . . when oops! -- they did!!!

14. Hard to say - and it depends what you mean by WMDs
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 11:22 PM by Tab
Chemical weapons, yes. Nuclear weapons, no. Delivery systems worth a damn, probably not.

And although the weapons inspectors were making progress, and wanted more time (which they should have received), Saddam was playing a major cat and mouse game at inspection sites, which didn't help matters any.

At any rate, the main point is that even if he had SOMETHING, it wasn't considered to be an immediate threat. Perhaps I had my emphasis wrong in the post. I think most countries in that region have something. Could they have used it against us? Unlikely. Against a neighbor, perhaps, but then why the argument of urgency?

So it was a sham from the get-go - I just objected to statement about the WMD. Destruction, I think yes, but no indications he was going to do anything with them. "Mass" destruction, whatever that means, I think not, certainly if you mean nukes, definitely no. I'm not giving the administration a pass on this to say the least.

And on edit: there's a school of thought that Saddam's cat-and-mouse game was more important in trying to make his NEIGHBORS think he had some kind of dangerous weapons. If they knew he was effectively unprotected, he felt he was vulnerable. I think that played into it. It didn't help things, but it explains some of the behavior.

15. WMD were a lie -- and we gave Saddam Chemical weapons!!!
Whatever these countries have you can be sure that the US played a role in supplying the weapons.

For gawd sakes we armed the Taliban -- created them and Al Qaeda.
The CIA set them up via Pakistan. Your tax dollars paid to create the Taliban!!!

We winked at Saddam's plans to invade of Kuwait -- See: April Glaspie
We also gave Saddam the chemicals he used in Kuwait.

Let me assure you that if Iraq had been a threat to us -- we wouldn't have attacked them.

I don't see any "cat and mouse game" by Saddam.
He quite understood what was going on and the danger he was facing.

The PNAC neo-con goal was to invade Iraq and take control of the Middle East and OIL.

That's where we are --

Our goal should be to overturn this corrupt cult in the White House

and take back control of all our natural resources from the few private families profiting from

them and exploiting them to the detriment of our planet!!!

Saddam's mistake was thinking that bush the moron, had as much sense as bush the elder....!!!!
W-R-O-N-G..........!!!!!!!!!!
Saddam had NO idea, of the kind of psychopath, he was dealing with....!!!
Sad, isn't it, that the United States of America could elect such an imbecile to the highest office in the land....!!! Actually, kind of scary, if you think about it...!!! May God help us for the remainder of the idiot's term...!!!!

16. Every time somebody calls for impeachment of
Shrub and the Dick, they should also advocate holding Rove accountable. I don't know if he's in a position where you can 'impeach' him, but given the fact that HE is the master-brain behind all the crimes committed by this White House (and all their cover ups), KKKarl should be held accountable too.
