1. Kucinich answered the questions in such a manner
that he appeared above the fray, as it were--and I liked it when he repeated, again and again, that candidates like him offer real alternatives--and I agree that I hope he can debate Edwards on health care.

23. They were CLEARLY talking about the number of DEBATES, not candidates.
I feel sorry for anyone that has fallen for this obvious piece of Right-wing spin.

I don't care for either Hillary or Edwards, but it is CLEAR from their comments that it is the number of DEBATES, not the number of candidates, that they fear is "trivializing".

Dennis may or may not have bought into it, but reacting to the news as if they really are "out to cut him out of the debates" only serves as an "they're out to get me" platform. Shame on him to playing dishonest politics like that.

26. I respectfully disagree
I don't think that the number of debates trivializes anything. But the STYLE they have for what they laughingly call a "debate" does trivialize the candidates and their messages by not allowing them to speak in anything more than sound bites. I don't know if you are familiar with the Lincoln-Douglas debates, but frankly I'd rather see something like that, with two candidates at a time, than what they have now. And don't tell me Americans won't listen. Last year, Lincoln's Cooper Union speech was read by the actor Sam Waterston in modern dress. The speech was spellbinding, and everyone in the hall gave him a standing ovation when he was finished. I CRAVE this sort of reasoned, intelligent discourse on the weighty issues of the day.

5. Nobody
exactly right. This was delightful, he managed to get his point across like a reasonable person instead of a campaigning maniac. I don't know how he does it. I am certainly glad he does not read DU or at least I hope he does not.

16. Ron Paul also has integrity..
I just don't like some of his economic policies. I was shocked when he was either the only one or one of the few that didn't vote to help the victims of Katrina.

7. Fast-tracking this election is so bad for democracy in so many ways
  • It gives almost no time for lesser candidates to gather steam and gain momentum
  • It gives undue weight to candidates who have high name recognition and have amassed large sums of money as a result
  • It also might work to undermine impeachment efforts in two important respects

    1. It might remove some of the more outspoken proponents of impeachment from the public stage
    2. It provides a good rationale for those who oppose impeachment: "It's too late. The 2008 campaign is already under way."

I agree that Kucinich seemed reasonable and above-the-fray in this appearance. He hasn't lost his passion, conviction, and principle, but he does seem less shrill than he sometimes seemed in 2004.

    8. An awesome interview. I wish the Hillary/Edwards shook troops would watch
this and think about the wisdom of what Dennis is saying.

He is a straight shooter and certainly offers a perspective, an intelligence and a vision for America that is different than the other candidates.

It's all context isn't it? I mean how can everyone run with random speculation on this? Most of it was inaudible no?
That & if there is any trutch to it all... they might have a point.

I'm trying to figure out if the problem is on my end, because some videos are not loading at all for me, while others work just fine. Perhaps YouTube is having issues?

    11. It's time to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and force media outlets who
want to make money off the public airwaves to air political ads that give equal time to all candidates. Squash the big money and the profiteering by media outlets and their lobbyists in Congress. They're our airwaves/spectrum not theirs. It's also time to reverse the media deregulation that took place in 1994. Clear Channel has a virtual monopoly on the airwaves throughout the U.S. since the Republicans allowed them to buy more than one station in a market. Hence generic music, generic news and propaganda. And BS like what they did to the Dixie Chicks. It's time to turn back the clock to a fair playing field. Unregulated capitalism leads to monopolization.

    17. Kucinich just validated Fox news as a real news show
I've really lost respect for him. I don't think for one minute that Clinton and Edwards was trying to erase the field, as it were. If they were, wouldn't they have talked about it behind closed doors? It's not like one of their guys couldn't have called one of the other guys, and arranged a meeting or a phone call between the two.

This is a total bunch of BS, and shame on people for falling for such a Rovian trick. If Kucinich and Obama were caught in a half heard conversation by Fox news, would you accept anything that Fox said was uttered? Come on, really?

    20. I've made up my mind
Kucinich is the only candidate who stands for anything I believe in. Neither Clinton nor Obama nor Edwards really gives a damn about the people of the United States or the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan or the long suffering people of both those countries.

    >>>>Kucinich is the only candidate who stands for anything I believe in

Is Kucinich STILL the only Dem candidate planning to participate in the Fox News debate? Can hardly wait to see those rightwing baited questions lobbed at Kucinich. They'll be great for Repub campaign ads.
