3. So far there is one that I know of:
Senator Feingold was joined by Representatives Jim McGovern (D-MA), Walter Jones (R-NC) and Barbara Lee (D-CA) in voicing opposition to a troop increase for Afghanistan.

Considering the grave domestic problems in this country, going after 100 Al Qaeda with 30,000 troops is not in our National Securities best interest.....

19. Destabilize Pakistan...
Start regional wars, play one country against another, get these nations in increasing debt, sell more weaponry, control the flow of oil, get oil producing regions to secede under western protection for western interest, get the Russian involved in this self destructive exercise, and finally mission accomplished. Yes sounds crazy unless you know a little about history, it's all been done before.

28. so what? I'm tired of their stinking "goals" in the Middle East that involve bloodshed
what about the GOAL of stabilizing the United States? Our "president" doesn't seem to notice that people are unemployed, dying without health care, losing their homes, driving on decaying roads and bridges, and becoming more dumb and ignorant with each passing day because of media consolidation in the hands of right-wing loons and impoverished schools.

Why the hell should any of us get behind "destabilizing" Pakistan? Would you volunteer for service in the military to do that?

30. I think you misunderstood my comment. I stand with you.
I put the question out there because whenever it is mentioned that our actions are destabilizing Pakistan, it seems the powers that be shrug or we get crickets for a response.

Maybe we are asking the wrong questions.

Again, I stand by your comment. And I misread comments regularly so I can understand.

29. why does he hate Obama?
a hearty recommend for another voice of sanity, along with that of Bernie Sanders, in opposing these godawful, stupid, but undoubtedly politically "convenient" decisions. I mean, bucking the string-pullers must get too uncomfortable. It takes guts to fight for real change, and I guess that's simply lacking where we need it.

I found this explanation:

Statement of U.S. Senator Russ Feingold on his Vote for Fiscal Responsibility in the Health Care Bill

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Russ Feingold released the following statement today after voting against an amendment offered by Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), which cost $940 million over ten years:

“I am disappointed that the Senate health care debate has gotten off on the wrong foot. The first amendment voted on would add almost a billion dollars to our budget deficits over the next 10 years. We should make sure health plans cover women’s preventive care and screenings, but we should also find a way to pay for it, rather than adding that cost to the already mountainous public debt. At a time of record deficits, Americans expect fiscal responsibility from their representatives in Congress.”

http://feingold.senate.gov/record.cfm?id=320403

It surprises me that he voted against it. A billion for womens health care doesn't seem that unreasonable.

41. Feingold is a progressive
but he is also consistent about being a fiscal conservative. That helps him get votes from conservatives.... and he's up again next year.

35. Take 30,000. troops out of Iraq and send them to
Afghanistan for 1 year and if we need more take another 30,000 out of Iraq until there are none left in Iraq or Afghanistan. Declare victory to pacify the repuks. Then kick Rham Emanuel and the rest of DLC out of the WH. Put everyone on Medicare. Problem solved a lot cheaper.
