...In Colorado early voting is taken very seriously. A ballot box set up near the mayors office gives voters something to do while waiting for their appointment with the boss.

On May 5, 2009 Aspen Colorado (CO) held an instant runoff election (IRV) for mayor and for 2 city council members. True Ballot was hired to perform a secondary scan of Premier (Diebold) designed ballots to create a cd containing scans of each ballot and interpretations of each. The interpretations were released to the public. The scans have thus far been held by the city. They and the ballots were scheduled to be destroyed November 6 2009 and now are protected under court order.
