Luke Mitchell and Maggie Mahar Explain Joe Lieberman |
|
Joe Lieberman has managed to put himself at the center of the health care reform debate by selectively moving the goalposts each time. Luke Mitchell and Maggie Mahar break it down.

I think it's tragic that Lieberman has ANY power at all. He needs to be relieved of all his chairmanships and all of his leadership positions. This guy needs to be condemned by the Democratic Party.

2. I wonder if, had Lieberman been aced out as the Dem caucus was formed. . . |
|
he wouldn't be more compliant today, trying to ingratiate himself back into the good graces of the "Club." As it is, he feels confident of his position, and considers his hubris above reproach, since the Dems "need him."
I believe we'd find, once he was on the outs of power, he'd do whatever he needed to regain his position. At the least, he couldn't be any more obnoxious or obstructionist than he his today.

But I'll tell ya what. I think that if Lieberman is still a senator and feels that the republic party is within striking distance of taking back the senate, he'll go to the republic party in a heartbeat. I could be mistaken, but I think that as soon as he realizes that he can no longer do anymore destruction to the Democratic Party, and the American people he will bail.......And go to the team that's "winning". Lieberman care only about himself and his corporate masters.

I admire Al Gore but how he ever picked this corporate hand job artist as his running mate is a mystery to me.

6. The Most Hated Man in America is Joe Leiberman |
|
I can't believe this guy was actually running for the vice president at one time. I really think it is time to disband our government leaders and build a new party for the people. The republicans and some of the democrats cannot see the forest through the trees. It's time for a congressional clean sweep and get rid of these clowns that want to represent corporations instead of people. My mother-in law may not live to see health care reform, because at 62, she must continue to work even though her body retired long ago from cancer. At 62, her health insurance premium would be more than her retirement pay. And if she doesn't see reform, I will consider all elected officials who opposed health care reform murderers, and Mr. Leiberman, you will be at the top of my list.

7. Lieberman may be playing hard ball |
|
with his position as the 60th vote. According to one theory at another blog, Lieberman knows he will not be re-elected so he is bargaining the WH to back down on the Israeli settlement on the East Bank.
