1. He said no on the bill, but what about cloture? |
|
Seems to be keeping that close to the vest.
If this bill clears cloture I could see it losing 5-7 liberals on actual passage, plus Ben Nelson.

2. What I would rather see is |
|
the bill go to a vote and be killed overwhelmingly by votes from Democrats, denying Republicans a victory dance.
Or, see a majority of Democrats preventing cloture.
The bill is crap now. Worse than nothing.

Let's take the form of the health care bill to the American people in 2012. Let's challenge Obama and focus on this issue and on Afghanistan. Those are two very unpopular Obama policies.
I remember when Obama told us to keep him honest (or words to that effect). We tried. But he ignored us. He has thumbed his nose at us. This is really and insult. If he does not need our support, whey should we give it to him?
There are several other truly articulate, truly intelligent and very liberal alternatives. I will go for any one of them. Dean, Kucinich, Feingold, Sanders. I like them all. But we need to get started and focus on one candidate, someone we can trust.
I supported Edwards in the primaries last time. For all his faults, he was the first to come out with Medicare for all as a public option/choice alternative. Obama and Hillary kind of copied in a lukewarm fashion Edwards' health care proposal. We need someone who will take up Edwards' stands on the issues, but have the strength to stay celibate (or at least monogamous) for a few years. Is that too much to ask for?

7. Well thank goodness we have a Senator on our side... |
|
...who is willing to withhold his vote in order to try and make the bill better for us little folk.
