The 'Lieberman Bill' Must Be Filed in Two Days to Make 2009 Deadline

Signaling they are one vote away, a watered-down version of the current bill* continues to be slowly shifting shape as Democrats attempt to meet a Saturday deadline for filing. The oft-changed bill continues to be held up by Senator Ben Nelson who wants a ban on abortion coverage for any woman who gets a tax credit to buy insurance.

Republicans hope to continue their stall tactics as well in order to stymie attempt to rush the bill through the Senate chambers, in hopes that members who are willing to vote one way now in a last minute rush, may change their mind if things are slowed down a bit and the 2010 elections loom larger. CBS News reports

7. I would suggest that one or more of our progressive Senators do

what the repugs are doing - filibuster until it cannot be passed in time. Then we have some time to try to carry out Dr. Deans ideas. If they pass it it will be to late.
