5. Obama's cynical subverting of progressive slogans and icons really bugs me

First, it was "Yes we can," which was swiped from the United Farm Workers and Cesar Chavez.

More recently, Obama shamelessly mentioned Martin Luther King as he surreally used his Peace Prize acceptance speech to justify war.

And today, he undermined a Greenpeace slogan "Politicians talk. Leaders act." when he said

"We are ready to get this done today, but there has to be movement on all sides to recognize that it is better for us to act than to talk."

Alas, "getting this done" means cutting emissions by just four percent from 1990 levels, compared to the 20 percent cuts that European countries have been proposing. That isn't "getting this done" unless "getting this done" means destroying the planet.
