21. Matthews had been thinking of running for Senate-Pennsylvania. |
|
He gave up on that; well that he did. His freetrading and anti-EFCA positions would not fly in this state.

37. It shouldn't fly in any state but a lot of otherwise reasonable people have bought into |

those particular positions.

Was Chris gay for Bush's characters or what??? Why do people love BAD theatre?
I know that preppy, frat house, nick-name calling social club that Bush and his type are in. My father (nick named "Black Dog") and his brother were just like that. I got sent to their prep school with Marvin Bush (he was in my class at Woodberry Forest School....class of '75). I don't understand why people find it charming. It's smug and condescending to anyone who's not allowed "in" and as shallow as society can get. It's the male version of "the Housewives of Orange County"...and the military is part of the facade (Not doing anything important militarily but showing great support....showing being the optimum word here.)
Why do so many find this crap so "charming" and cool? It's dreadful!

Thanks for posting this. Now Cenk doesn't stand a chance on MSNBC, but he did the right thing with this commentary.
And sit on it, Matthews!

9. Matthews is a political weather vane |
|
He's a cipher with no discernible moral compass. He simply vomits forth more bullshit, pro-establishment (whichever wing of the corporate super-party has the reins), Beltway-safe, received opinion.
This is the same jackass who once stated that the country would like a little bit of fascism when he was referring to Rudy Giuliani (paraphrasing). (Sadly, there's already way too much fascism - the well-dressed variety lobbying Congress for, well, everything.)

13. Back in 04 or 05 he had Al Franken on and told him the Adults won't vote for Democrats. In the |
|
same tone he's using now. Then when Tweety was off of his own show he slammed the Bushies like he was at an anti-war rally. So I suspect he doesn't believe this new crap any more than he believed the crap he was spouting during the Bush years. Political tool about sums it up.
K&R. Great job.

19. But a lot of folks here got a funny feeling down their leg over Obama just as Matthews did, so he |
|
got a 'bye' from a lot of folks here.
I gave him up after his homo-erotic love fest over Mission Accomplished on which Gordon Liddy was his guest. How gross was that? HOW could anyone take him seriously after that edition of his show?

20. Ain't he the guy that had "that feeling in my leg" and loved the "bulge"........... |
|
........in Bush's pants? Every once in a while (and I do mean "a while") Tweety comes and kicks some ass. The only problem with his "cred" is after he hits one out of the park one day, he comes back the next and makes an ass out of himself. Like he's politically bipolar. I think we ALL remember him during the Bush years. If he's REALLY a liberal, he's a liberal you CAN'T depend on.

I'm sure part of it is that he's striving for a false neutrality, i.e. regardless of the facts he goes out of his way to hit from one side of the plate one day and the other the next.

This will have serious blow back. Matthews WILL hold a grudge.
I have felt this exact same way about Chris Matthews. His response to Bush's 'exploits' sickened me at the time, but I had forgotten.
The thing we should not forget here is how much Matthews reflected the public impression. Listen people, most American felt just like he did. At the time a Republican friend e-mailed me, he was like a German citizen after the surrender of France in his zeal. When those Iraqis had the ink on their fingers after the election he felt this reinforced every single Bush lie-the lies he wanted so desperately to believe. We had successfully given Iraq democracy! I think he saw Bush as a sort of George Washington for Iraq. Unfortunately I couldn't share his enthusiasm.
This zealotry, this need to believe, is so like the early days of Nazi Germany that it is frightening. Remember, it is culturally embedded in us. Our European ancestors were the most war-like people in the history of the world. When it comes to war - we will believe. Or have, up until now.

28. I used to watch Chris M before the election. Now, not at all because |
|
he has lost that tingle down his leg.
He has lost his mind, too. He's just an old hack, his time come and gone, and MSNBC pays him too much.
Half the time, I think Matthews doesn't mean what he says, and I really can't tell which is which coming out of his mouth.

I'm not sure he knows what he believes any longer. I do know he believes in a Jesuit education, as does Pat Buchanan. Fortunately I had the nuns and that was indoctrination enough for me.

24. Cenk nailed it perfectly |
|
when he said Chris was projecting.
Tweety is the poster child for the little kid you went to school with, you know, the one who was never going to be in the "in" crowd with the "kool" kids.
Fast forward to the present: unable to break in, he has now become the penultimate social climbing, hero worshiping, sycophantic super fan. who can't run with the big dogs, but doesn't have enough sense to stay up on the porch and not make a fool of himself.

He is pathetic and sad.
Full of himself and rude. MSNBC should get rid of him and up their ratings with another progressive in the line up.

"journalist" with the merest puddle of gray matter, really isn't that hard. You just need to go a little further back, though, to see that this is just a power worshiping fool with arrested development disorder still lost in the heady days of the Tip O'Neill rule. His quotes back when the bushmaster (genus Lachesis) was being rushed to the top, when they were trying to make sure he got elected and there would at least be enough votes to cover for a stolen election...."He's the real deal" ad nausium, over and over in a broken record line dance with Lou Dobbs, Barbra Starr, Wolf and the entire CNN lineup as well as the rest of corporate media trotting out fake dems like Lanny Davis (just one of many) to seal the deal.
