He says he know is hard for some of us to accept, but then it becomes all about him.

Interesting quote from RH Reality Check:

Quote of the Week

The Quote of the Week:

Speaking today on CNN's State of the Union, Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE), who held up health care several times to get his way on efforts to undercut insurance coverage of abortion care and women's right to choose, and also score a huge federal subsidy for Nebraska, said the following:

“I don’t want to throw down the gauntlet here or make a bright line or anything like that,” Nelson said. “But you always know material changes, something that would change the paradigm from where it is.”

I don't know about you, but when a Senator from a state with less than one-tenth of one percent of the US population of over 304 million people obstructs health care reform for millions of Americans so he can get his way, I think that is more than throwing down a gauntlet and drawing a bright line.

And guess what. OFA, the group formed from Obama's campaign, sent out a missive to contact Nebraskans and tell them to thank Nelson.

I have supported OFA's efforts handily, but question why they are actively calling Nebraskans to THANK Senator Nelson?

We got some good news this morning from Senator Nelson of Nebraska so our calling has been making a difference. As far as we at OFA see it, it ain't over 'til it's over so we are going to continue to put pressure on folks from Nebraska and Arkansas to make sure we do everything we can to get those 60 votes. If you're calling into Nebraska, make sure you add a "thank you" to Senator Nelson message to the calls, otherwise we want to make sure that we're still calling...

Then at the end he threatens that he will not support the bill if it is changed.

He has become the face of our party, along with Joe Lieberman.

1. Lieberman and him are trash. I'm so F sick and tired of males involved in abortion
When they can pop kids out, then I want them involved. Until then, males should not even be allowed to say boo against abortion.

2. Get OUT .
Just get out and go away from anything having to do with women's reproductive rights. I don't want to hear your false concern.... Ben.

Bottom line...These lawmakers USE this highly charged issue at every single turn when their other obstructionist and bullying tactics don't work. Ah yes, other things aren't working, so let's screw with women some more. I don't believe for a minute that the vast majority of politicians who spout about murdering fetuses give two holy hoots about fetuses but give plenty of holy hoots about gaining votes in pre-election years. If they give in to actual equal reproductive rights for women, and give women equal control over their bodies as men have, they lose a HUGE advantage when it comes around to playing the *fetus* card to try and obstruct other issues.

This particular person is fouler than most. He used women to try and obliterate the chances for millions of people to have access to SOME kind of quality healthcare that wasn't going to rape their bank accounts. He used women to manipulate the Senate for his state's gain. Yeah yeah, this is what Senators DO. But don't give anyone any crap that this is really about abortions offending him. HE USED the issue and uses women.

This country's lawmakers have been sacrificing women's rights for centuries. It has always been easy to throw females under the bus, or in the back alleys, or however anyone wants to describe it.

This is indeed a VERY UGLY face of our party in Congress. It is an UGLY face of men.

8. Earth to Ben Nelson:
Wingnuts aren't going to vote for you! And neither will anyone else now that you passed this piece of crap. Ben thought he got such a sweetheart deal and now everyone else is going to get it too. lol, flipping idiot. It's going to be nearly impossible for me to vote for him. Anyone whose vote is for sale is hard to support, and anyone who can make any debate about abortion - well that's pretty much exactly what I stand against.

9. Free market? Try corporate welfare. Big handout for the insurance companies
and if they can unseat Obama in 2012,they will really make out since it is up to the administration to police them.

11. He is an enemy of women in the U.S. That's simply the truth.
As far as I'm concerned, he's no better than a pedophile priest, in his "moral center" that allows him to sacrifice poor women to religious creeps.

That's you, Nelson.

12. Talk about balls...
... don't even get me started on abortion -- and 'competition in health care'

This is the guy who had the part of the Senate bill that would have stripped the insurance companies of the anti-trust exemption removed...
