Summary: Christy Harvey of the Center For American Progress explains how she ended up getting three large boxes of gay porn sent to her by the infamous Christian Right organization, The Family Research Council. This was in response to her looking into exactly why the right opposed the nomination of (openly gay) James Hormel to be an ambassador to Luxembourg under Clinton back when Christy worked for the Wall Street Journal. A "special" coloring book was also included...

3. could be international consequences, too ...
since Christie is in Alaska ...

that would mean that the FRC is doing international porn trading, since it would involve crossing international borders to get to her ...

of course, since it's for a Repuke cause, it will get no traction ...

6. Not so sure . . .
This is interesting, but I disagree with Cenk's assessment that the reason for this is that 'they're gay.' I don't doubt that there are some closeted people in groups like the FRC, though I personally don't think that their percentage of these groups' memberships much exceeds the percentage of closeted gays in society at large. Actually I think this kind of thing represents a tactic on the part of the FRC to trigger the feelings of revulsion that exposure to gay porn can induce in heterosexual people. I was raised since birth to respect homosexuality and have supported gay equality 100 percent since I can remember - yet even I have no stomach for direct exposure to hardcore gay sexuality. I think this is (like most things regarding sexual preference) entirely biological. I'm not surprised the FRC would have plenty of gay porn on hand so they can promote revulsion toward homosexuality and use that negativity to further their anti-gay agenda. Despicable? Yes. Evidence of them 'being gay?' Not so much.

As an aside I happened to be an undergrad studying in Luxembourg when the change in ambassadors was happening and I remember meeting Hormel. I thought it was interesting (though not unusual) that he came out very late in life after living most of it married to a woman. I also remember thinking he was kind of lame since he seemed to have little political or international affairs experience and obviously got the job by lining pockets with money from his family's meat empire. Though of course that's par for the course . . .
