2. That/s the way it is everywhere! No matter who is prez.
I rememger I was really pissed when I was flying into Atlanta and Clinton was Prez. We had to circle the AP for 30 mins until AF1 was in the air. Yad a similar problem when Shrub was prez. I never lived in a town large enough to get any prez to appear put it's all the same. It's the proctection of the prez and I can deal with that. No matter how much I disagree with the pwerson in office, I don't want to see them killed!

4. Oh please.... living and working in the Houston area, our roads were
inconvenienced by the Bushes numerous times. I didn't like it, but what do you expect? The President to just blend in with traffic? That's a securty nightmare!

If the people stuck had any sense of current events, they would have known he was going to be in town, and his approximate arrival would have been in the paper (Generally the date if not "morning" or "afternoon").

I avoided certain routes when Bush was flying in or out. They could do the same.

It's a petty complaint.

6. Say what? He's one of their own, & most in this small state are thrilled to see a local as POTUS....
What would piss them off and hurt their feelings is to be ignored, like the relative who made good and doesn't bother to stay in touch with the family. Barack Obama stays in touch.

The Islands are a laid-back state of mind, on the whole. You should try it.

8. The youtube title is "Kailua Anxiously Waits Obama's Arrival"
and the news report talks about thousands line up to wait for his motorcade.

When will you be gone?

12. I've been to Kailua-Kona numerous times and....
The speed limit in town is 15mph and on the Highway's it's 40mph. Being from NYC it took a couple of days to get used to, then you completely enjoy just rolling through town very slooowly. The scenery is beautiful.

18. I haven't read the rules (recently), but...
There seems to be nothing wrong with the video per se, but the title is inflammatory. If the real YouTube title: "Kailua Anxiously Waits Obama's Arrival" had been used, I would have thought it fine to post this. I wonder how many people they had to talk to before they found the pissed off guy. I can empathize with him (trying to pick up his daughter), but no matter who is president, no matter where he/she travels, some people are going to be inconvenienced.

16. Really? The level of bitchiness has reached this far on DU?
It is a Presidential Motorcade. Traffic will be held up. Every single Presidential motorcade since they invented CARS has held up traffic. This is news? This is what someone decided was important news to post on DU?

21. "I would have been pissed too no matter who...."
Really? Are you generally an angry person who gets upset a lot at others in traffic?

To the earlier poster who asked why this is "news," it isn't. It's just one DU posters odd take on events. The news is as follows:

President Obama checks out the waves in Kaneohe - KHON2 - ‎9 hours ago‎

Obama plays golf in Hawaii with friends - Chicago Tribune

Hawaii eyes boost to tourism as Obamas' vacation brings attention - New York Daily News

Obamas visit troops at Hawaii base's Christmas feast - Honolulu Advertiser

That's "news". One immature disgruntled complaint is no more than what it is. And I would say the same thing no matter who....

22. What about the fact that bush now still has gates put up around him, people who lived there before
he moved there are inconvenienced to the max every day of their freaking lives. Any other ex prez have to put a gate around himself to keep people away?

Tough luck folks. It's what happens when a President comes to your town. Suck up. I think he's doing a bit of sacrificing for you....you can do something in return.

You can sure pick out the repukes in the crowd.

And Obama has had more threats on his life from armed racists and tea-baggers. Go around.

28. Pathetic interpretation
When -your- president drives through -my- country, we don't fucking whine about held up traffic. We didn't even complain about traffic when GWB was passing through, and we hated his ass with a passion.

29. Annoying...
It's annoying to be inconvenienced...but, I bet Hawaii's economy is loving every bit of it. Just think of all of the money this brings to an area. Of course, its tax payer money, but every president does it. It might as well be beneficial for the area.
