Are there any Farsi speakers out there who can translate this text that came with the video?

تظاهرات و اعتراضات گسترده ی اعتراضی امروز 9/دی/88 دانشجویان

3. Not just in Tehran, either

Apparently the Ashura protests were in lots of cities. I can't find any news on what's going on in the cities in this map now, though.

Cities marked in red are here protests can be confirmed. Cities marked in green reportedly had protests,
but this could not be confiremd.

7. I've been using that translator for days--can't
get away from the computer! But translating Farsi into English can result in some very strange translations that make no sense. It drives me crazy. Still, it's better than nothing. ;-)

5. Previously, it has been said that Iran wants a war. WHO IN IRAN? Mullahs?
the Prime Minister?, Khoumeni? military? women? children? these students?

8. I understand that the Greens in Iran reject the official election results./
I assume they want a more secular government. What else do they stand for?

I don't understand what is going on very well.

9. Perhaps someone with more experience will explain the politics. The youth dominate the population
and are not isolated in worldly culture and relationships. They don't want to go backwards - they want the religious hold on them loosened. They are progressives in that they want separation of 'mullah and state' (if it is not disrespectful to phrase it that way).

They have the same problem we have - radicals want domination and tight contol.

They are somewhat westernized - more by Europe than us.

That is what has been written and repeated for many years.

10. Thanks. That makes it a little clearer.
I am confused by the use of the Green label. I wondered if it had anything to do with environmentalism. But then, isn't green the color of the the Islamic religion? It's confusing to me. Does the color green have some other significance in Iranian culture?
