Well, we already knew that torture apologist Andrea Tantaros is a good fit at Fox News, since she is eager to transmit the right-wing talking point du jour -- no matter how scummy or stupid -- with gusto.

She did it again yesterday on The O'Reilly Factor, debating with Alan Colmes over the political fallout from the failed bombing of Flight 253 on Christmas Day. Tantaros trotted out every cheap rhetorical trick in the book -- suggesting that the right-wing attacks on Obama were a matter of "checking the baggage" of the administration and bringing up Van Jones, then comparing Obama to Tiger Woods -- in order to promote the right's favorite new talking point: Obama and the Democrats aren't serious about combating terrorism.

Fortunately, Colmes delivered a righteous smackdown of this kind of cheap smear:

Tantaros: But the point now is that we cannot discount this, we cannot use terms like 'manmade disaster' and go after -- it seems like this administration is more interested in going after Republicans, and going after the previous administration, than going after our real enemies. When you say, 'Don't blame Barack Obama' --

Colmes: That is an outrageous smear, an outrageous smear against an administration that's trying to do the right thing, that cares about this country. The implication that this administration or Democrats don't love America, don't want to protect America, don't want to protect the American people -- that's an outrageous smear against Democrats.

Tantaros: Alan, I don't blame just Barack Obama, like you said, Alan. I blame you, I blame Nancy Pelosi, and I blame the left and the liberals who are trying to weaken our country.

I really do wonder when the Fox talkers are finally going to bring up the issue of how the Bush administration responded in 2001 to a nearly identical attack. My guess is never.

Jim DeMint Still Blocking TSA Nominee, Attacks Dems For 'Rush'

WASHINGTON — A Republican senator who has been blocking President Barack Obama's nominee to head the Transportation Security Administration complains that Democrats are trying to rush a vote on the nominee without adequate debate.

Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina has placed a hold on the nomination of former FBI agent and police detective Erroll Southers.

DeMint said Wednesday that he is concerned that Southers would let TSA screeners join a labor union.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has accused Republicans of jeopardizing national security by playing politics with Southers' nomination.

The holdup in Southers' confirmation has been highlighted since the airliner attack last week in Detroit.

DeMint appeared on CBS' "The Early Show."

2. Who is this little girl?
Is this somebody we should take seriously?

You know there was a time when being a columnist meant that you had to be old, curmudgeonly and experienced.

3. DeMint is not unalterably opposed to confirming Erroll Southers.

He's seeking a promise not to let TSA workers unionize. Perhaps that will be the compromise so that the nomination can go forward.

10. Why does DeMint want our baggage inspectors to be vulnerable to bribery?
Why would he prefer underpaid, overworked, demoralized baggage inspectors who could be more susceptible to bribery?

I would prefer to have well paid, well rested, well respected unionized baggage inspectors who would be alert for the one or two anomalies among the hundreds of people and bags they have to review every day.

6. WHAT ?
You call that growing a pair? Low key hissy fit. Did he stomp his feet? He could have spent much more time on the subject and really tore a strip off her cause he's got a lot of ammunition. I wish people would stop thinking that he's a liberal voice on FOX and accept the fact he's just a prop and might as well stay silent for all the good he does for the cause.

9. How does anyone watch that crap?
Colmes was fine but that woman, yuck! There was so much contempt and hatred in her voice and face. This should not be considered acceptable behavior, never mind behavior to put on television. Think of the children!!!

11. My opinion:
I think the terrorists hate us because our country allows people like this Tantaros character to have a voice in our Main Stream Media. She should be immediately muzzled or given to the terrorists as a sacrifice so that all of us can remain safe.

My argument above is as valid as all of hers were. Stalemate, I guess? Maybe not, if this woman truly loved America, she would allow herself to be taken by the terrorists as a sacrifice for the good of us all.
