1. Typical "fair and balanced"/false equivalency MSM horseshit
wonderful; they put Alan Grayson as a bigger wingnut than Sarah Palin and Ed Schultz is a "Limbaugh of the left" (I must have missed the lies, hate and blatant racism; the making fun of sufferers of parkinson's etc from Ed)....So big deal that they noticed that Bachmann et al are psycho; must have taken some deep investigative reporting to figure that out. Obviously to the corporate "news" network, anyone taking a stand either side of the safe bland corporate-friendly " middle" is a wingnut. Fuck them...BTW, About 6 years ago , I had an enlightening conversation with a fellow alumni at my high school reunion. He had recently left his long-time position as a newswriter at CNN. He is actually a pretty middle of the road kind of guy, but admitted that all copy that was to go out over the air was checked first by supervisors specifically to make sure a pro-corporate angle was expressed. No big surprise, but confirmation from an insider...

Please to do not take this a a criticism of the OP for posting this; it is not at all... just pointing out that while it's nice , I suppose, to see that they noticed that Bachmann is batshit crazy, to me the bigger and more disturbing aspect of this is that same old false-equivalence crap...if we criticize right wing lunatics, we have to pretend ( or worse, actually believe) progressives are just the same from the other side...

3mgs 1/2 hr before bedtime. It is a natural hormone and over the counter. Will also help with weight maintenance. No side effects other than a comfortable sleep.

45. Thanks to you and the others that have mentioned this
I'm seeing the sleep specialist I go to on Friday, and mainly to see about a change in medication besides checking to see that the CPAP machine for my apnea is working. Of course I haven't been using it lately since there's no point to breathing through it if you're not sleeping anyway. Thanks again, oogly , and the others.

43. Bachmann and Palin don't say things on camera
they write them on FB, or say them on the radio, where only their people can hear them. it's actually pretty brilliant (I know, I know) if there is video of you saying something stupid, you go down (right, Senator Allen?) but if it's just radio, or print, you can get away with an awful lot of stuff.

41. Language control and manipulation at work
A wingnut is a right-winger.
Period.
The term has caught on to the point that the corporate machine must redefine the term.
Did you notice their definition at the beginning? : "Extremists from both sides".
This is how a Goebbels-worthy propaganda machine operates.

Betcha that definition came right out of a Frank Luntz press release.

is more dangerous than Fox etc. At least most people with a functioning brain understand that Fox is just a propaganda outlet, but many (if not maybe most) of the same people HAVEN'T figured out that CNN, ABC etc, are too, in a more subtle( to them anyway) way, and will believe bullshit like this that they hear even as they understand that Beckkk, Limpballs etc are not trustworthy sources.

2. they gotta put Ed in there because he screams & sounds a bit like Rush, however, unlike Rush
he is right because profits are what the "HEALTH INSURANCE" companies are all about - they don't want people to use their paid benefit to get better when you're struck with a hugely expensive illness (talking about the 50,000+ things basically), they want you to just die so they get more profits in their dividends and their stock prices go up for all the shares they own.

He's right, and anyone not wanting to realize that is licking ice cream cone & picking daisies.

3. Feh. Ed Schultz, Alan Grayson? This "both sides do it" stuff dumbs down
the whole conversation. Schultz and Grayson are passionate, and their rhetoric gets pretty hot, but they aren't liars or delusional, like Palin, Beck, and Bachmann.

It's almost a softball pitch, if he wants to get into how the milquetoast media tries to position itself in the middle of what it sees as equal extremes, when anyone can see that the "extremes" of each party aren't really equivalent to anybody except those who are blindly seeking some safe middle ground.

10. H. L. Mencken
Often attributed to Mencken as "No one ever ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people." Some erroneously attribute it to P. T. Barnum.

What Mencken actually wrote were two quotes that seem to have been hybridized into the above saying. 1) "No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." And 2) "No one in this world, so far as I know — and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me — has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby."

Quotes from: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/H._L._Mencken

As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

A revolutionary. A man who wanted more power for his people to be sure, but killing was his method. I don't think that qualifies him for sainthood. But maybe that's just me.

22. he was fighting the rightwing
of course the saintly Che stuff is provocative, esp. to reactionarkies, who hate Che, and JFK, and Lincoln, King and too many others. Your take on the issue is frightening. Che was ours, and i'm proud to evoke his memory. The pigmedia assumes our side is vicious, when history shows it is the right, always, which kills the defenseless. Take the French Revolution 1796, and the Paris Commune 1871. both events are typified by pigmedia as the mob run amok, I've seen references to the 'Great Terror' of the Revolution, and was surprised to learn only 2500 people died in the 'Terror'...hardly alot. The Paris Commune is much worse, from a lefty POV - the Communards killed 250 people in 2 months the Commune lasted. When the reactionaries- whom the communards allowed to regroup outside the city, retook the city of Paris, they murdered an estimated 40 thousand working people. they even executed worker class schoolkids by firing squad. So awful was the truth that France today is still instinctively leftist. the French learned through suffering that the rightwing is full of crap. Btw, the American Revolution inspired the French one- just like the Paris Commune was used by the Soviet Bolsheviks to avoid the mistake of giving the rightwing any time or so on, to regroup. But no one pays attention to this. Che was bad cuz he killed? End of debate? I disagree

27. Facts are frighening to you?
I am not saying the man wasn't heroic in his fight, or in his cause. He was. But his method was killing. It isn't a debate. I aknowledge more than one set of facts about Che. Acknowledging the truth doesn't in any way lessen his place in history or the struggle of the common man to wield power over his own life. It really is too bad you aren't comfortable with that. My only point was that he was no saint, nor was he saintly. Sorry that frightens you.

35. Corporate media is starting early on Allan Grayson.
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 11:55 AM by ooglymoogly
They need to destroy him before he becomes a real threat to them. The real wing nut here is an all to obvious attempt to destroy smart progressives like Grayson, equating them with lunatic crazies, like Backman and Beck, whom they can sacrifice and throw under the bus. Notice Beck was shown in a moderate sounding clip (with all the other not so subtle deceit noted in other posts) and Rush did not even come into the top 5. This is nothing more than classic crock propaganda equating common sense with idiocy and calling it all crazy to create chaos in the gullible mind; Thereby distancing there own crazy from it.

Corporate media has been singed by the criticism of their embrace of the right wing lunatic fringe many of whom are either their bosses or in their employ and the fear the public is on to them (thanx to the internet); So they have struck the classic propaganda ploy of muddying the waters, equating all those they fear with what every one with the least common sense knows to be crazy; Which is becoming abundantly clear is themselves. Their aim is to co-opt the common sense message of the progressives and confuse the, all to abundant, gullible mind. Hey it has worked on Kucinich and Dean and anyone else that had any real common sense, decency and honesty they feared just might break through their formidable defenses.

The internet, progressively, makes this a whole new ballgame and corpmedia should be scared.

At a Freeper/Tea Bagger rally recently, one of the signs being carried around was a "Palin/Bachmann 2012" sign.

I had to LMMFAO at that one. Granted, that ticket would have the far right, fringe wackos going crazy but it would drive off the moderates and Independents.

The GOP is moving further to the right every day, which will insure that they are a fringe minority party for the coming years.
