Paulson was doing a great job, and then he supported Bernanke and then he appointed Geithner, and the Monsanto duo of Velsick (and Taylor, over the summer) I knew it was over...
We were scammed.

I read all sorts of mental contortions by some of his fan club in this site (self professed liberals for the most part, that was a chuckle) as to why a "Hope and Change" feller would be saying such niceties about one of the most reactionary presidents in our country's history.
But I had to hold my nose and vote for him. Next time, I will just vote with my conscience and be done with it. As a sort of "gift" for the DLC types, so that they can use people like me, who dare not toe the line and vote Dem no matter how much they stab us in the back, as a scape goat when they do what they always do when they apply their MO: get their asses handed to them in elections. Because lord knows they will never stop for 5 minutes and do some soul searching as why the people abandoned the "changer" in droves. Let's not forget that the only times the DLC has been able to win elections have been because either a 3rd party was syphoning significant amount of conservative votes (Perot) or the republican administration has been so utterly bad that it has brought the whole country down to its knees (Bush II). And had not been for Dean's 50 state strategy, I doubt Mr. Obama would have been able to even win such a lame ass duck as McCain after 8 years of Bush.
I know it is easy to have 20/20 vision right now. But there was an uneasy feeling when I realized the two front runners for the Dems were a lady who was a former president of her Alma Mater's College Republican charter, and a supposedly progressive who was saying how awesome Raygun was.

I got those uneasy feelings when the true progressives were dismissed early on as the "kook from the frozen North", "the elf", and "Senator Goodhair". Any one of those three would have upset the status quo too much.
Liberals and progressives have to realize that the moneyed interests will always have their second string (the first string being true Repubs, of course) running hard in the Democratic primaries. The will be the top money raisers early on, as the PTB hedge their bets by funding some pliable candidates. The only reason FDR got through was that the moneyed interests got faked out, thinking that his allegiances lay with them, since he started out as one of them.

When asked about his many broken campaign promises, our illustrious former Prime Minister John Howard was actually completely honest, for once in his life. He said:
"There are core and there are non-core promises".
In other words, there are some promises that you intend to honour, and some that are uttered simply for the purposes of campaigning, but which you have no intention of honouring.
Wouldn't it be nice to know before voting which are core and which are non-core?

To every Big Corporation that sent him enough dough.
You have to wonder how much it cost to buy his Presidency?

For the life of me I cannot understand why he took advantage of us at a vaunerable time. I would hate to see the repugs have the ability to hold any office--including dog catcher--but Mr. O really needs to hear us and how we feel. He is our employee. We are the employer. No public option? I have little reason to cheer. If dems lose seats and Obama loses his "capital" he needs to know why. BTW, I really wish Rahm would run for mayor of Chicago and get the hell out of the WH. He is a walking fuck-up.

11. And this is just the beginning. |

The Dems are going to be hung up and skewered with this over and over again in 2010 and 2012.
Is there no one in there who understands how foolish and suicidal this is?
