Bill O'Lielly Attempts To Take On The Daily Show For Its "Fright Club" Skit |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 10:38 PM by Turborama
O'Lielly shows clips of Jon Stewart for no apparent reason other than to give The Daily Show some free publicity. Who the hell's the so called "Democratic political commentator" he was talking to? No Democrat would praise Faux and defend Palin the way she does. I have to admit to partially using this as an excuse to post the whole "Fright Club" skit (starts 2:20 in): http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-january-11-2010/fright-club

Apparently Billo doesn't get that he's probably winning over more viewers for Stewart by showing his clips on Fox. That's what happened to my life-long Republican 80+ year old aunt. She watches Stewart now religiously and then takes it to the RWingers friends. She thinks Stewart's hysterical and right on.
And as for the 18-34 demographic for Stewart.... I know more 40-80 year olds who watch him than I do 18-34. I am not a pollster but that demographic sounds off to me.

Bill exposed John Stewart to a much wider audience .I wonder
how faux feels about the free promo. If only you could
quantify the shift to the Daily Show and then hopefully to The
Colbert Report

7. I agree. This is also the only way Daily Show clips can be uploaded onto YouTube |
|
Viacom are super strict about people adding clips to YouTube. So, the only time Jon Stewart appears on YT is when he gets used in commentary segments. That's one of the reasons I wish TYT would show more TDS clips. I reckon embedding would be a cool function here, too. Then we could add copious amounts of Daily Show vids.

6. The operative words from Billo |
|
"If you go after Obama in an 'unfair' way I'm going to mock you." In essence O'Reilly admits Fox is unfair toward Obama. Well there goes fair and balanced down the rat hole.

I only ask because I just saw the same comment on YT. If so, I'm adding you as a friend (I'm Naskeleng).

If you don't ask where the moniker Blazehok (It just sounded funny to me:) emanated, I won't question Naskeleng.

12. Yeah, he says this as though |

Stewart is doing something wrong. Faux Noise is so completely one sided and unfair that Bill-O doesn't even recognize the hypocrisy of what he said.
Any of our friends or acquaintances should understand that we do not respect their views if they even turn on this shit hole of misinformation that is Faux Noise.

15. You're right. At one point, O'Reilly implicitly admitted he and Fox "go after Obama in unfair ways." |
|
And he said it in such an off-hand, careless way it's clear he doesn't find anything wrong with going after Obama in unfair ways. What he takes umbrage at is being mocked for it.

10. Unwise for O'Reilly to put himself face to face with Jon Stewart |
|
These Conservatards do not understand that they are the joke. That Stewart's job just gets made that much easier when Bill O gets pizzed.

11. I'm 51 and watch Jon Stewart religiously, along with with 73 year old father. |
|
Stewart cuts across all age groups. Nice of Billo to give him some free publicity. Stewart makes more fun of Republicans/conservatives because the material they provide is sooo much better. They're easy targets because they do and say such stupid dishonest things, and that includes Billo.

13. Why did he let this chick speak? |
|
She makes too much sense for the likes of O'Lielly. And where did everyone get the idea that Palin was a dunderhead? It struck me while watching the Katie Couric interview; that was comedy too????

16. What upsets them is that comedy works best when it's true. |
|
Funny but true gets us all nodding our heads. Fox "truths" always make me scrunch up my face in disbelief.
I think O'Reilly envies Jon Stewart's credibility.

17. I think Billo has always had an inferiority complex when it comes to Jon Stewart |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 08:00 AM by Downtown Hound
He's been going after him for years, and it's blown up in his face every time. But Billo being the insecure, rage-driven, soulless whore that he is, he'll never stop looking for a weak spot.
It doesn't surprise me that Billo is jealous of Stewart. Stewart is everything he's not. Both men are highly intelligent. And Billo, despite all his many faults, does have an incredible talent for spinning a debate, as long as he controls the microphone. Both men are rich, both are successful. However, Stewart is handsome, hilarious, respected across the board, and generally loved. While O'Reilly is crusty, angry, bitter, and pretty much hated by everyone except his brain dead fans.
Yeah, I bet that there's more than a little bit of jealousy in there.
