In Port-au-Prince, a chaotic scene erupted as people clamored to reach the trucks of a World Food Programme convoy carrying water purification tablets, plastic sheeting, collapsible jugs and nutritional biscuits. At one point, a rumor spread that the food had expired and people began throwing it away. Eventually, the convoy was forced to leave the scene, with some survivors chasing after the truck trying to hold on to the back.

From: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/01/15/haiti.international.aid/index.html?hpt=T1">Haiti aid efforts hindered in critical hours

Utterly heartbreaking hearing about people destroying the food and watching some of them desperately chasing the trucks at the end.

3. a local man read the label
it said it was made in 2008 and expired in 2011 I believe.
He thought the 2008 was the expiration date. He was just in error but it caused people to panic.

5. Maybe instead of a camera man and a reported
they should have taken two more guards. Or an additional 300lbs of food and water!

6. I'm just incredulous that
a bunch of starving people would worry about expiration dates! If I was hungry, I'd eat it so long as it wasn't moldy or rotten!

7. Report looked staged to me
The shadow elite who are running Haiti likely staged this report to justify not getting supplies to the people who need them. They might even be confiscating and stockpiling supplies to sell to the people for their own profit. It just isn't credible that helicopters are unable to land in areas of the city to deliver aid and rescue. Something is thwarting such an effort, and the likely culprit is GREED! I cannot believe U.S. officials can be so gullible, and that CNN expects us to buy this fake report. I gave early to the Red Cross, but will withhold further support until a credible explanation is offered as to why aid and rescue still seems to be hindered. I commend the Haitian people for their strength and resilience in the face of such overwhelming conditions. Hang in there, Haiti!

A Democracy Now interview of Randall Robinson shines some light on the history of American policy towards Haiti. A link is as follows:

9. Makes more sense than the lame excuses we're being fed through the media.
If you study the history of Haiti, it is merely history repeating itself. In 2004, they claimed there would be violence if the President did not leave the country. Now, they're saying there will be violence if aid and rescue are provided to the people. Don't be so gullible.

10. No it doesn't
They're not saying there will be violence if rescue is provided to the people, look on this forum for videos of the rescues that are going on. With regards to the aid, if it isn't distributed equitably and is just randomly thrown around, only the strong will be able to get to it and that's when greed is most likely to occur.

Your ridiculous conspiracy theory doesn't stand up to the facts on the ground.
