1. If I had been standing next to that guy I would have flattened him |

I do not tolerate heckling of the president of the United States in my presence.
Anyone who does not like the way he is running this nation is free to go live in Iran.

4. Now, now. President Obama handles himself very well and is not that sensitive |

to heckling. If you want to know about heckling, read the unexpurgated version of the Lincoln/Douglas debates. People heckled a lot back then. It is an old American tradition. I totally disagree with the heckler's stance, and he can't go on and on heckling the president. But President Obama did not seem all that troubled by it and continued his speech with poise. Good for President Obama.
After all, the heckler was doing something similar to Code Pink's demonstrations, and I absolutely support Code Pink's right to demonstrate publicly. We either allow public demonstrations and disruptions or we don't. This man must have known that he would be arrested. He placed himself in position to be arrested. No real harm was done. The man just reminds us of what the Republicans are about -- loss of individual freedom.

Who cares about hecklers? They're a dime a dozen, they come from all walks of life, and they protest all manner of things. They're often annoying and occasionally unbalanced, but generally harmless. I dislike it when people have different standards about public protest, depending on what the protester's cause is. I also agree that this jackass knew he'd be arrested -- he's probably happy to get the attention and to be able to view himself as a victim.

dems do it to. Old old tradition. And of course tradition would be he's led out shouting.
Still loved the bloody hand right up in front of Condeleeza (sp) Rice's face with Code Pink. Although Code Pink takes things a bit far. They are so far left they'd likely (if they haven't done it already) heckle Obama just the same.
I am glad though hearing people referring to him as anti choice. Sick and tired of the false assumption they should be called Pro Lifers. BS. Supporting anti choice and executions and needless wars and ignoring the lives of the mothers is not pro life. it's a BS term and I hate it. Anti Choice is much better. (or anti abortion.) but Pro Life is a straight fucking lie. Including the shit they pull (the extreme ones) with the little feet buttons. Think I still have one somewhere. For now my old confirmation pastor I try to keep politics out of it, but he's always been on the extreme end with poor Palin (lol) on one of his page listings on facebook...
At least it didn't end like. "DON'T TAZ ME BRO...."

8. Semantics is a tricky but important thing |

I've always struggled with abortion terms. The fact that 'pro-life' stuck was really quite a coup for abortion opponents (not unlike 'Bolshevik' sticking for Lenin's crew) since it's such a sunny term. I agree it should be canned, though it's important to remember that not every 'pro-lifer' supports war and the death penalty either (though a whole lot do). I think 'anti-abortion' is a little bit fairer and more accurate than 'anti-choice' since it's not 'choosing' they care about but abortion.

9. If this had been a Bush rally, that protester would have been renditioned to Turkey |
|
What a diff.
A sniper in the rafters would have silenced him a hell of a lot quicker.
