5. WOW
I can't believe what's happening. First, Ed Koch, now David Brooks. A cataclysmic end? A BushCo flame out? Just a few days ago, things looked so hopeless with Democrats blocked by big bad Bush at every turn.

7. Coincidentally, or maybe not,
Fred Hiatt has an op-ed in the WaPo that makes the identical argument in the same terms.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/7/21/51757/0459

There seems to be a script driving this line of argument. Did it come from Rove? From the P-nackers? From National Review? It's amazing how quickly the republicon propaganda apparatus lumbers into action. Unfortunately for the Cons, we've seen it once too often. It's like noticing the moire pattern on a bad TV monitor. Once you've spotted it, it's really hard to ignore.

12. I am also confused
I am confused how ignorant, shallow thinking, propaganda regurgitating assholes get to be seen as respected commentators on current events in the first place.

13. So why the snapshot of Mark Shields?
That's a weird editing job.

Anyway, glad to see that David Brooks is finally acknowledging the lala land fog he's been living in for the past six years.
