The teabaggers would primary them, and perhaps oppose them with third party candidates in the general election even if they survived the primary. Look how Specter's GOP primary numbers tanked after he voted for the Stimulus, and now Rubio's overtaking Crist in the Florida GOP Senate primary, largely to to the latter's support of the Stimulus.
In fairness to Brown, he's not a filibuster supporter. He stated that other democracies function without supermajority requirements in the legislative process, and he supports Tom Udall's proposed rule change to require a simple majority, at the beginning of the next Congress. Still though, Senate Democrats should be vocally and constantly denouncing Republican obstructionism now with an eye to building public support for deploying the nuclear option as soon as possible. Senate Democrats can ill afford to achieve such sorry results in this legislative session, as the last one.
