On Thursday Jan 21st 2010 In a sweeping 5 to 4 ruling the US Supreme Court struck down several longstanding prohibitions on corporate political contributions, saying legislative measures to control such spending infringed upon corporate First Amendment free speech rights.
The decision will now allow corporations and unions to spend unlimited treasury funds on independent political campaign expenditures.
In a statement President Obama said.
"The Supreme Court has given a green light to a new stampede of special interest money in our politics, It is a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans."
This adversely affects every single activist in every sing cause left or right worldwide.
Do you want clean renewable energy?
When companies like Exxon, British Petroleum, and Chevron are allowed to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns what chance does a citizen politician have against that level of funding? And what does that mean for the future of renewable energy and global warming.
Do you want universal health care?

Do you oppose bailouts?
When companies like Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and AIG are allowed to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns what chance does a citizen politician have against that level of funding? And what does that say to the future of our economy or fairness of taxation in America?
Do you oppose GMO's?
When companies like Monsanto, Cargill, and ConAgra are allowed to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns what chance does a citizen politician have against that level of funding? And what does that mean to the future of farming and food production to the world?
Are you an advocate for free speech and net neutrality?
When companies like Comcast, Verizon, and ATT are allowed to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns what chance does a citizen politician have against that level of funding? And what effect will that have on net neutrality and free speech on web. What's the internet like in China. Don't think it can't happen here!
Call your congressmen.
Call your senators, your Mp's, whatever representatives you have no matter where in the world you are. Write about it, Vlog about it. Tell every one you know. Do what ever you can to oppose this.
This isn't just an American problem!
When the biggest, most powerful, and greediest military industrial complex ever created is allowed to spend unlimited funds on political campaigns what chance does a citizen politician have against that level of funding? And what effect will that have on our prospects for world peace?
