3. A friend of yours played with them? That's entirely too cool.
not being sarcastic in the least, in case it came off that way...That is just incredibly cool...One of my faves too. I replied on Vespucci's other post, CIA Man, that I think that the second album is one of the greatest albums of all time. Do you ( or anyone reading this) remember who wrote the liner notes for it? (a big part of the reason I had to hide it from my parents way back when)

6. Hey, man...I posted this as a shout-out to you, my friend.
Figured you'd show up. Remembered that you liked them...so this (and the other vid) are my "abq e streeter Appreciation Threads," because...as you know...I don't appreciate Appreciation ("Most Popular Boy / Girl In School") Threads. So I do them MY OWN way, one on one. I post a lot of music threads and they're always better when you add to them.

8. And I appreciate being appreciated as long as it's not a thread about appreciation
Ow, now my head hurts...but how utterly cool about Hobbit's friend...played with the Fugs and was with Arlo taking out THE garbage.

But back to lil ol' me....thank you for the kind words ...always ( uh oh) appreciated.
And no one's answered my who wrote the liner notes question, although since several people seem to know the second album well, I'm gonna guess that they know the answer and thought it was too easy to lower themselves to answering it....P.S. did you have the Fugs albums as a kid and have to hide 'em too? Considering how nosy my parents were it's a miracle that they never found 'em.
And I really do think that second album is one of the greatest albums EVER...Not a remotely weak song on it.

13. OK time's up---Allen Ginsberg
Can't find the text on the net ( so far) and too long to transcribe, but here's a few bits and pieces...
It's war on all fronts."Breakthrough in the Grey Room" says Burroughs-he meant the Brain."Total assault on the culture" says Ed Sanders. The United States is split down the middle. On one side are everybody who make love with their eyes open, maybe smoke pot and maybe take LSD& look inside their heads to find the Self-God Whitman prophesied for America...the soul politics ecstasy message- They've put it in front. It was behind Rock all along, from the beginning in Nigeria where Spades danced to the vibration in the belly made by drums worshiping Yoruba God Chango the Penis our Creator. The message moved with the slaves up the Mississippi, like , Jazz was always an underground ecstatic religion... The Fugs came to tell the truth that was only dreamy till they opened their mouths for the Whitmanic orgy yawp...When they scream "Kill For Peace",they're announcing publicly the madness of our white-haired crazy governments...Dirty Old Man? Who said he was dirty, some OTHER dirty old man masturbating in the bathroom and hypnotizing you with the Network official News thru a microphone in the other hand?...we all suffer because of the mass of hate broadcast in this country...

great stuff,

And this was 1966.

The original Broadside version.

Once I get it converted to mp3, I'm gonna eBay the thing. It's pristine, too.
