23. It's been a long time coming...but not really |
|
Ignoring all those death row appeals in Texas, the president even mocking and making fun of some of them, we should be able to confiscate his assets and give them to the poor. He stays in office to keep investigations away from the WH for as long as possible because with a different AG there might be "real" investigations of Bush/Cheney/Rove/Miers...the RNC... And the WH can't chance that. Gonzales has lied so much he is now lying about lying and so up pops the perjury card. Finally, it's goodbye Gonzales, it hasn't been nice knowing ya'

26. At the present folks are rightly focused on things like Iraq, domestic syping, |
|
BIG issues. But I like to think that, over time, things like Ook Ook making fun of condemned prisoners will become more a part of the big picture of *, that the whole anti-intellectualism-in-the-name-of-Jesus thing will be presented with a big "WTF?", that the gross hypocrisy of Bushie and his supporters (re: Clinton et al.) will be more widely discussed, that the media's complicity will become a major point of the discussion.

10. And who will appoint the Special Council. Is the SG recused? |
|
Note the SG, as Acting AG, advised Bush to not respond to the subpoenas. MORE: Solicitor General’s Legal Advice To Pres. Bush: Don’t Comply With Subpoenas http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1442483

12. Question, has Gonzo ever reused himself from anything? |
|
Since his mission is to aid the regime in their efforts to destroy democracy, there would be nothing he would consider too close to him or the regime that he would see necessary to recuse himself from the case.
This case he dose not have a choice, Congress controls it now.

Exactly what is the solicitor general (I take it this means "prosecutor general") and why doesn't (s)he fall under the control of Gonzales? Is (s)he allowed to make decisions to investigate separate from the influence of the AG? I thought the AG ran the whole dept.
:wtf:

27. Well, that answers half the question |
|
And interestingly enough, raises the observation that the AG doesn't even need a law degree (WTF?).
Still, it's unclear whether the SG answers to the AG or operates independently.

29. I wish Moore wouldn't repeat the canard |
|
That all the Guantanamo detainees are Al Quada. Probably about 10% of them are really terrorists, and fewer are specifically Al Quada.
Of course thanks to Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, there are a lot more terrorists in Iraq than before the war.
