John Edwards bikes with Lance Armstrong in Iowa |
|
No endorsement--but Lance asks Elizabeth how she's doing and thanks Edwards for being there.

2. Yeah, well, where would Bush be if he hadn't been born a Bush? |
|
Not in the White House, that's for damn sure. He knows he's never accomplished anything on his own in his life.

Were invited to ride in RAGBRAI with Lance. Edwards was the only one who accepted the invitation.
I thought it was kinda funny when JRE was asked about keeping up with Lance. I think they rode a leisurely pace. Edwards is more of a runner, but I think he and his family enjoyed the bike ride.
Elizabeth looks great!

4. Ha ha: "Any trouble keeping up with Lance?" |

Very genuine moment from Edwards as he answered that one. Plus his hair was messed up - yay. And he managed to stay on the damn bike!

6. (Des Moines) Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa |
|
RAGBRAI
I rode it in '89 w/my dad, and it was the most physically exhausting experience of my life...but lots of fun. I recall eating those Iowa porkchops at 9:00 a.m. (after having put in 3 hours on the road already).
In the late 90's my dad and I rode RAGBRAI just a day ...it was going through my grandmother's town. Dad and I ate pancakes in a cornfield with a couple at our table. After exchanging pleasantries, we found out the woman was Clinton's Secretary of the Air Force, Shiela Widnall. She was riding with Team Air Force, who were all wearing "fly high Air Force" jerseys. Ah, the good ole 90's, when military morale was high, and so was (re)enlistment.
It was great to see Lance and Elizabeth out there as well. This ride draws thousands of riders from all over the country. They would have fit right in w/the festivities.
