From News Hounds:

Sean Hannity Complains About “Reckless Rhetoric” Of Political Discourse

Predictably, the only harsh rhetoric that bothered Hannity was that which came from Democrats. “I’ve just gotten fed up with the rhetoric from the Democratic Party,” Hannity said to Levin. “What is it about the Democratic Party that they seem to be able to feel they can get away with this continued reckless rhetoric?”

I don’t think it was an accident that the Democratic guest was FOX News contributor Harold Ford, Jr., somebody with a vested interest in keeping on good terms with Hannity, rather than a feisty, outspoken Democrat like Jane Fleming Kleeb. Not long ago, Ford remained acquiescent as Hannity accused Democrats of emboldening the enemy and undermining the troops. Last night, Ford was just as compliant.

Ford quickly distanced himself from the “reckless rhetoric” Hannity cited as an example, some comment by Rep. John Oliver (D-MA) calling Republicans “nihilists and jihadists.” Ford said, “I wouldn’t use those words, as you know… The reality is, we need both parties to be adults and to come together” Yet, he didn’t seem to have a problem when Levin accused Democrats of being enemies of the state."

And more from the News Hound site.

Colmes did bring up some “nasty rhetoric” coming from Republicans, but he continued to ignore the outrageous comments that had just occurred. Nevertheless, he offered Ford an opening. “Why is the rhetoric only bad when it’s on the left when I hear Republicans make these horrible comments about Democrats?”

“There’s no doubt there’s an inconsistency,” Ford began well enough. But, sadly, he immediately focused on sucking up to those who had just demeaned him, rather than calling them out on it and highlighting for the viewers Levin’s ugly behavior. Ford continued, “And I respect where everybody’s emotions are. And I respect Mr. Levin. I know he has, wants to see the Republicans do well in the fall, next fall, and even see a Republican win the White House.” Then he turned back to discussing policy, apparently thinking he had just engaged in a substantive debate and oblivious that he had just successfully played his role in Hannity’s political theater.

How can any Democrat just sit there, listen to the rhetoric from someone like Mark Levin, and not say anything passionate at all.

3. Have you been on DU lately? Have you seen some of the posts against Dems here?
Why should Harold Ford defend dems...we don't defend ourselves. We call it constructive criticism.

There isn't a day that the circle firing squad isn't in effect.

5. That's why I was glad when he lost.
If we're going to have a fuckwit Senator from Tennessee constantly saying stupid things, selling out the people, and trying to incite war, I'd rather it be a Republican. One Lieberman is enough, thank you.

7. Ford isn't supposed to defend Democrats.
He's head of the DLC, which believes that the problem with the Democratic Party is that there are too many Democrats in it.

And that's why Claie McCaskill, John Tester, Bob Casey, Sherrod Brown, Sheldon Whitehouse and Jim Webb are in the Senate, and Harold Ford is on FOX.

10. Ford: "But, Sean, no one gives a f@#! what you think"
Won't someone PLEASE say this after he starts out with his "I am tired..... bla bla bla"

Unfortunately in this encounter Ford is the useful idiot and Levin is - as usual- the FASCIST PIG.

Anyone who as ever listened to Levin knows that he competes with Michael FASCIST PIG Savage for the honor of full throated AM American radio Fascist. This asshole has a law degree which makes his lies and distortions that much more reprehensible.

Ford, sadly, is a total tool. Hannity and Fox's job is to be 100% propaganda 1000% of the time - 24/7, ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. When CBS announces that Bill Clinton has discovered a cure for cancer, Hannity will have Levin on to "discuss" the fact that Bill Clinton can not end world hunger. The Hannity world is a dark and simple place and if Ford- and anyone else thinks he can go this show and have a conversation they are 1000%, 24/7, ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS wrong

11. I bash the DLC all the time
But there is room for DLC-types in the Democratic party, in some districts as a part of the 50 state-strategy we need to reach out to them

But the DLC model is a failure, economically-conservative, socially progressive people arent being elected... instead economically-progressive, socially-moderates people are being elected.

I would rather take those populist rather than the DLC-republican-lites

12. Edwards is the populist for you : )
So, don't vote for HR Clinton or Obama.
They are both business-friendly.

And Edwards is the real economic populist. Just look at the tax hike on Capital Gains that he proposed.

15. I just read something that bothers me.
Does anyone know who chooses the speakers for the Gore Family Dinner in TN. Here is more about it, and I don't like seeing the name Gore anymore in conjunction with the DLC group. Maybe it is cause it is in TN...but it bothers me.

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070727/NEWS0206/707270424

"Today, July 27

Gore Family Dinner: Largest fundraiser for the Davidson County Democratic Party. Speaker: Democratic Leadership Council Chairman Harold Ford Jr. Patrons reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7:15 p.m. at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, 2100 West End Ave. Info: 354-5400."

Maybe making a mountain out of a molehill, but I was curious why.

17. Well Gore with TN DLC and so is Ford
Ford isn't so bad guys, there are room for "moderates" in the party and economically he has some progressive ideas. Remember that Gore has only moved to the left recently in the past few years

18. Don't use the "room for moderates" stuff with me.
I am a moderate, and I was called fringe by that group. Harold Ford is not a favorite of mine at all. Not after the Carville fiasco.

That meme "there is room for moderates in the party" is silly. Most of us ARE moderate.

They just like to call us fringe because we did not support the war.
