From last Thursday's NBC Nightly News:

In a segment discussing the Health Care Reform summit hosted by President Obama, MSNBC's Kelly O'Donnell mis-reports the size of the Democratic Reform Package as "$900 TRILLION dollars over ten years" instead of "$900 BILLION dollars over ten years". NBC backs her up with an identical graphic mis-reporting the same incorrect figure.

No correction was ever issued. Not that night, not the next, nor on the MSNBC website.

In a story on the cost of Health Care Reform, with Republicans being quoted on-air as saying "We can't afford this", getting the COST of reform correct would seem vitally important, don'tchathink?

1. In fairness they did change the video on the website
but that still is a major error and not acceptable.

10. Link please, but online story still off

If you have a link to the corrected video, please post it.

While the video may have be "fixed", the story on their website is still wrong, saying "$1 trillion"... off by "only" 10%... or $100 BILLION DOLLARS.

11. "In fairness"--a retraction/correction should have been made within the newscast
or in subsequent shows on the weekend but apparently, the managing editor, the executive producer, the story's producer and senior management---WHO ALL SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THE PARTICULARS--don't pay attention to what their network puts out on the air.

2. To be fair, they were only off by a factor of three
orders of magnitude.

8. Factor of three
Ten to the third power isn't exactly what I'd call a "rounding error". :)

7. Notice how it's always Cantor misinforming people.Cantor doesn't know his ass from a hole in the gro
Republicans are always wrong...on everything...and justify it with made up twisted misinformation...knowingly misrepresenting the issues and themselves because the MSM will never call them on it...example: reconciliation and nuclear option. They KNOW the are not the same and aren't even related but knowingly lie and conflate them as the same...knowingly lie. The magnitude of their hypocrisy removes all integrity. They are like tooth decay, destroying our democracy and our way of life for the last 50yrs. They have been exposed thanks to the internet and can no longer hide behind the corporate medias' propaganda.

13. Can you say right wing media.,
I'll never understand how a news organization can post their ideologies the way they do. It's seems if an anchor is right wing their news will lean that way,and if they're left they slant news left. Just give me the news and I'll make up my own mind, and at least get your facts straight. That was a huge "lie" it seems. These bites that are screened at news time should have been checked by someone with a brain.

16. The problem is; The right wing considers truth to be rabid left
wing and the patently disprovable garbage they spew to be main stream. The "msm" is owned by the pugs and guess what.

15. They just created, then aided and abeted rage in those of teabagger mentality - who then
become lie spreaders. And so it spreads.

So that when it comes to someone asking the spreader where they heard it - they can say NBC and there will be no correction.

Thanks to all the bloggers who are lie finders and truth disseminators.

Mission accomplished.
