SPLC Reports Continued Rise of Hate Groups in U.S. in 2009

SPLC reports continued rise of hate groups – 2009 SPLC Hate Group Map
– SPLC states “According to the latest annual count by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), these groups rose again slightly in 2009 — from 926 in 2008 to 932 last year — despite the demise of a key neo-Nazi group. The American National Socialist Workers Party, which had 35 chapters in 28 states, imploded shortly after the October 2008 arrest of founder Bill White for making threats against his enemies.”
– SPLC reports that “Racist skinheads and others have been arrested in alleged plots to assassinate the nation’s first black president. One man from Brockton, Mass. — who told police he had learned on white supremacist websites that a genocide was under way against whites — is charged with murdering two black people and planning to kill as many Jews as possible on the day after Obama’s inauguration. Most recently, a rash of individuals with antigovernment, survivalist or racist views have been arrested in a series of bomb cases.”
– SPLC also reports on planned march on April 19, 2010 — whose “key supporters include Larry Pratt, a long-time militia enthusiast with connections to white supremacists”

Is there hate in your state? The green on the map represents Americans standing strong against hate. The red dots represent documented hate groups.

12. More like Bill OReilly, don't you think? Bill0 does that sort of
thing to his guests all the time!

Limbaugh just insults the caller.

19. That performance by Ratigan has become the necessary
way to deal with those who invented the tactic. For far too long, this is how the right behaved towards Democrats who were shouted down and prevented from making a point especially when they answered the questions truthfully that were asked of them. It became impossible to watch anymore.

So now, we have someone who will not allow them to dodge questions and Progressives are upset because he wasn't 'polite' enough? We are in a war for the soul of this country and the other side already won. When they start behaving themselves, then we can return to being polite. For now, to use an old phrase, you don't bring a knife to a gunfight. That is what I got so sick of watching Dems do for so long.

Good for Ratigan. The message should be clear to the deceivers ~ you come on MY show, you better not try your usual lying tricks because you won't get away with it.

All is fair in love and war and anyone who doesn't see that a war has been going on for years now between the radicals on the right and those who believe in democracy, hasn't been paying attention. You can't BE polite to these people, they consider that to be weak and take advantage of it.

2. My question to Mr. Tea Party is
If this has nothing to do with President Obama being black and a Democrat, where were these tea party rallies in spring and summer of 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008?

5. And WHY Didn't He Want To Answer The Question! Ratigan Kept
saying it, and yes he talked over him, but he WANTED HIM TO ANSWER THE QUESTION!

At the beginning of the show he actually said he wasn't lumping the Tea Party in with people like the Birchers and others. Then Williams comes on and wouldn't answer the question of whether he would ask disrupters to leave or not act that way. The guy started evading and Ratigan got mad! And so did I!

ANSWER THE QUESTION... Tweety does it ALL THE TIME!!

3. Let's be real none of this would be happening at all if Mr Beck wasn't stirring the pot...
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 10:17 PM by ProgressOnTheMove
He may feel that this is just amusing to him and he'll make money whatever he says or does. But the game don't work like that, he'll create his own hell by his actions because just by physics alone for every action there is a positive and negative reaction. I'm one for believing there is reincarnation, I'm pretty sure the next life he'll be an opporessed person somewhere in the world. It's all a process of more enlightenment his path will be longer than others. It's not about the money Beck it's about the heart, so I score that as an epic fail for Mr. Beck. Murdoch epic fail, GOP epic fail, they'll never win no matter what their actions are as they don't know what's real.

4. I Saw It, I Loved It... I'm Sick Of MSM Giving The Tea Party & All The
other people so much slack, and GOOD ON RATIGAN! Third time I defended him tonight and I'll do it again!

Yes, he was offensive, but by God I say a good offense beats a defense! Made my day, and I'm a person who generally wouldn't do something like that, but I'm sick to the gills with the crap we are having to take these days!

6. Why is that Limbaugh like?
First of all Limbaugh would never have an ultra left winger on his show and then give him the opportunity to respond to questions. Secondly he asked the guy a simple question which was basically 'do you denounce the racist hate speech coming from people through your organization'. The guy immediately pivoted and tried to change the subject and then went out on some limb about an obscure NBC employee. I've noticed that this is a new tactic with these right wingers, they go on MSNBC and as soon as they have the floor they attack the network, try and make them look like the extremists.

When Ratigan went after Debbie Wasserman-Schultz he went too far, this time he didn't.

14. You are correct.
It would be a tactical mistake to distinguish between "good" Teabaggers and "bad" Teabaggers. Furthermore, it is ironic that these people have just awakened to what's been happening to their government, with their support, since Ronald Reagan was President. Furthermore, fear and loathing of the "Other" is the preeminent organizing principle of all rightist movements. To claim otherwise would amount to self-repudiation.

11. saw this live.
it was a great thing to observe.

the teabagger absolutely refused to make any attempt whatsoever to answer the question.

i wish more journalists reporters would do the same. i've witnessed way too many interviews in which reporters fail to press an issue while letting someone simply dance around and not even bother to answer a question.

i will second the reminder though that ratigans former interview with wasserman was over the line.

good job on this one though.

18. Not the point. Personally, I don't give a crap whether they are given
any time at all. However, if you invite one on a show then let him/her answer the questions one is asking how he/her, the person being interviewed, wants to answer it. Don't badger the interviewee because he is not living up to your, the interviewer, agendized expectations. The only thing Ratagain accomplished was to get more tea baggers on board.

20. Anyone who teabags because of that interview
would have teabagged regardless.

But you make a good point - let the interviewee answer the question ONE IS ASKING. The teabaggie in question would NOT answer Ratigan (your misspelleling was not lost on me, and shows your true colors, icee), and deserved the spank. Where is it considered badgering to stop a nutjob from soap-boxing on your own show?

22. I saw my state on the map
And it had hate groups numbered at 24. Did they need to do research for that.we see it everyday. There are some of us who have lived it for years.Racism has been a part of our everyday lives. We experience it in jobs and hiring practices, shopping, travel in America by car and airplanes now, predatory lending institutions, housing, drugs, crime, and poverty. Most of the time racism that is shown now (except for tea baggers and right wing radicals)is in very subtle ways.they have think tanks to target certain groups to advance their product or propaganda.I personally like Dylan because he has taught me a lot about the financial market and the tricks that they play.I love it when he calls them out and shouts them down. And our dems need to get tougher in fighting the rhetoric that fly out of the repug's mouth. He may have gone overboard with Ms. Schultz, but she is getting tougher as time goes by.I remember when she came out soft spoken. Now she is hanging in there and soon she will be able to deal with some one like Dylan and it will be alright. She has chutzpah.dylan has come a long way also.He wasn't as hard as he is now, after finding out some of the things that was really going on he changed into what you have been witnessing.
