Countdown: Dr. Howard Dean, former DNC Chair, too stunned to gloat at hilarious RNC leak of PowerPoint slides, showing plans to manipulate donors through fear, etc.

O'DONNELL: "Doesn't this actually prove, really PROVE - inside proof - that Republican messaging is now, and maybe always has been, reducible to the one word: fear?"

DEAN: "It's actually, Lawrence, I think, it's worse than that. The Republicans simply don't respect American voters, and now what this shows is that they don't respect their own donors and own voters. These are a small group of people who believe they are above everybody else. That they know best. And therefore anything they do is o.k. because they're right and everyone else is wrong. It's astonishing to me, what's so astonishing to me is not that they're propagandists - they've been doing that since Lee Atwater - what's astonishing to me is that they turn the fire hose on their own people..."

8. When Anderson Cooper reported it on CNN he reported that Democrats did the same
thing. James Carville didn't challenge him on it, although AC repeated the undocumented assertion at least three times right in front of him!

He's so much better at remote disasters than American politics.

11. The people called "reactionary" have no idea what that word means.
That's the point. republican followers are idiots. They will never hear about the leak anyway.

12. Republicans are too damn stupid to know they are being had.
Won't matter much. You could take a republicans house, deny them health-care, send their kids to die in a senseless war, and they will still tow the party line. These fuckers are too stupid to exist in society.

21. group of people who believe they are above everybody else.
It also includes those who follow this small group because they believe what they are told without skepticism. Everything's bottom line...black and white.... only superficially complicated. It all would work too (though it repeatedly hasn't) if only such and such wasn't in the way!

18. oh, yeah, howard, the dems really respect us.
you know, i have a certain amount of respect for dean, not least because obama and emmanuel don't like him.

but really, howard, you think obama is showing respect for voters. for example, something like 85% want single payer, but obama is trashing those who do.

all i see from the dems is hopeless stagnation, status quo.

then dean goes on to endorse the "elitism" meme with his "see, the republicans are elitists, TOO."

yes, howard, i do see how the dems are like the repubs. what a sick game.

20. There is only one aspect to this that is unusual
And that is the fact that it got out into the open.

The Republicans have ALWAYS felt this way about their mindless supporters. There is a reason they are always
for destroying education budgets. Ignorance feeds their voting ranks, and their moneyed elite then feeds off
the government contracts tossed their way when Republicans have a majority in Congress along with the White House.

The only thing they had to do is keep waving the flag and the bible, and they were pretty much in the clear.

The exhibition of this in public, showing the republican rank and file voters how their party REALLY feels about
them, is what's unusual. What is troubling me is that that very same rank and file will tune in Fox Noise and
tell themselves that it isn't true and it never happened.

If more Democrats talked like Dean, the Democratic Party would be UNSTOPPABLE.

30. Bam - we have a winner.
Exactly.

I was working with Team Wellstone when Dean was running for the big white office and he caused a lot of buzz around the old water cooler. I'm glad he's still around and I would vote / work for him in a heart beat if he ran again.

He's clear, concise, and nails it every time. To me, he IS the face of the real democratic party.

29. What's astonishing to me
is that the Rethuglicans don't see right through their own leadership by now. This is more of the same crap that Rove tried to pull.

Then again, methinks the "right" is not generally very smart.
