2. I don't know. Was he trying to accomplish something?
I think he was acting nuts, but he certainly didn't give Beck what he wanted.

13. I always felt that he stood up for his constituents and progressive policies.
And he stuck to that script with Beck. I can still admire him for that.

But WTF boundaries did he cross to abandon ship in such a desperate series of events? I get the "homespun" filtering. Still, that's an awful lot of spinning to get back to the policies he championed if we would help elect him to the office where he once belonged. And abandoned faster than S Palin could resign as Governor of Alaska.

If this is a repressed homosexual thing (that is the subtext the media will still dare not name and yet shove down your throat with metaphors 'full steam ahead") then I'm doubly sad, both for him and me.

As an openly gay man that can cuss like a sailor, I can still manage my boundaries and what's appropriate. This just makes me more cynical. I've never spent any time in prison or the navy, so I can't say what the appropriate boundaries are in those circumstances. However, this is a congressional office and there should be some higher standards. Oh, wait a minute. No wonder that I'm cynical.

At any rate, I have to respect the former congressman for his continued support of progressive policies that began long before and so far through his current breakdown. He has been an outspoken champion for repealing DADT. That may not on the surface advance my case, but historic evidence suggests that many closeted homosexual politicians will vote against laws that grant equal rights to their gay constituents. It's the first I've heard of such a situation, other than Barney Frank. Of course, their individual circumstance could not be the same, but they are both progressive Democrats. When caught in the "scandal" of possibly snorting the gay mystique, one stays and one bails.

Whether or not Eric Massa comes back to politics, I wish him well. I just hope that he's not negotiating for a reality series job. Didn't he just have one?

23. I honestly don't know much about the charge....
but we had for once elected a reasonable congressman from this area and now he's gone, and it just sucks.

7. I have been trying to catch the replay, it's not being shown here. (TWC/NYC)
What happened? This is being buried.

I knew there was a guest host. I didn't think he was the problem, but something happened that must not be seen ever again.

Now I'm going to adjust my tin foil.

11. Something about Eric:
When I heard about how the Democrats are treating Eric Massa for sticking to his guns rather than falling in line with Democratic Party orders, I thought about Eric’s old boss, General Wesley Clark, and and what General Barry McCaffery once wrote about him. “Wes was always looked on as too well-educated, too wired, too good-looking. He’s not a simple crunch soldier.” Eric isn’t a simple crunch Democrat—he thinks for himself. That can no longer to be tolerated.

I am watching his resignation from Congress play out with great sadness.

I knew Eric.

I was active* in both of his campaigns. He has a fresh honesty about him. I knew he had battled cancer. I knew he could swear like the sailor he used to be and that he had a low crap tolerance. I knew he was not perfect. Yet his directness and hopes for the future of our country were healthy and persuasive. He was a man of the people.

I never thought I would tell this story in public, but I know for a fact that the recent clash with Rahm Emanuel was not the first. I actually witnessed such a confrontation several years ago at a meeting in Washington DC arranged by General Clark. Emanuel was giving a talk to the 40 or so of us in the meeting room, and so inappropriately attacked Erick by denigrating the way he was running his campaign. It was shocking and embarrassing, especially because Eric was right there in the room. But it’s not Rahm’s style to pull someone aside to speak privately about any concerns. No sadistic fun in that. Well, they went at it in the hotel lobby. And let me tell you that Eric may be the only human being who can indeed hold his own with Emanuel. If it were now only a two-man fight, I’d put my money on Eric.

Finally, there is an easy and cheap way to destroy the credibility and reputation of another human being. You just have to be evil enough to be willing to do it. First you find something unflattering, make a big deal out of it, gather up your allies, and start suggesting that your prey is both ridiculous and mentally unstable. We are seeing that play out now. It’s ugly theater, yet we are all watching as those in power reveal the tactics they will use to destroy any dissidents standing in their path.

24. I think there's something lacking in your judgment. See this:
When I heard about how the Democrats are treating Eric Massa for sticking to his guns rather than falling in line with Democratic Party orders, I thought about Eric’s old boss, General Wesley Clark, and and what General Barry McCaffery once wrote about him. “Wes was always looked on as too well-educated, too wired, too good-looking. 28. Anyone wonder who Beck's biggest fans are?
Beck's biggest fans are religious right fanatics who always seem eager to follow anyone who says they are 'born again'. It doesn't matter what kind of person he is, all that matters to these religious fanatics is that they call themselves 'born again'. Bush, Palin & Beck are all 'born again' (self-professed 'christians') who rarely, if ever, follow in the footsteps of Jesus. They do the opposite. They spread hatred, racism, fear, anger, rage and constantly bear false witness against their neighbors, a violation of God's Commandments. But no matter how many times a religious right zealot hears one of their 'born again' favorites violate God's laws they still cheer them on. Why do these 'Christians' completely disregard the despicable behavior of these fake 'Christian' leaders? It is my belief that no one can be a conservative extremist and a real 'Christian' at the same time. They are exact opposite and have beliefs which conflict with all of Jesus' teachings.
