1. Just a thought, but is this why there is a push for a mandate on insurance?

2. Well, not directly, since the push is for the benefit of the consumer
through health care coverage, so they avoid 10's of thousands of dollars in health care debt, not for Walmart and all those folks.

3. IT is not a bad practice...... but WALMART does have dozens of bad practices
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate-owned_life_insurance

companies should protect themselves and their assets..... insuring against the loss of a skilled and trained employee to cover the cost of replacing that person in the company is not an insult. it is also NOT income for the family or friends... it is NOT anything cruel or cold, it is equally not warm and fuzzy----- it is business protecting itself against losing an asset

NOW ------ WHY WALMART IS SCUM........ THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER REASONS BUT I WOULD NOT CONSIDER THIS ONE OF THEM

4. Yes & the way they refer & think of YOU -Dead Peasant it's so compassionate & exactly how they see
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 06:33 PM by GreenTea
you....it means nothing to them.....your life is trash dude, accept it, die & move on for another worker to make some profit for them via dying, and don't clog up the process....nothing personal peon, less than nothing dude....just another way to make some more bucks off you, another understanding, dead "it's just business" ignorant peasant.

Yes, they are just trying to make a profit....and so are the insurance corporations who throw sick people off to die because the medical cost will hurt the CEO & stockholders profit margin....

Limbaugh has been telling the sheep this for years, "it's just business so accept it" and someday you'll be rich and heartless too and then you will understand it, and you'll do the same exact thing, cuz NOTHING is more important than money....fuck the workers and fuck dead peasants!

6. Making money off their dead employees is not a "bad practice"
Do pray tell what do you consider "bad".... actually don't bother really, anyone who refers to an physical person as an "asset" has drank way too much off the chalice of Capitalism.

Good grief...

8. Not all of us are desensitized to the filthy subhuman ethics behind this practice...
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 10:11 PM by scentopine
almost nothing short of human bondage is more repugnant than watching a gilded class of uber rich taking death insurance on low level workers who have minimal salary and benefits.

It is absolutely cruel cold and disgusting. This is positively sociopathic and predatory corporate behavior. It is a behavior that knows no bounds, has no moral center, is tearing families, communities and the nation apart.

There is no defense of this practice. It should be outlawed. Its just another case of business socializing their losses and privatizing their profits.

Jesus so much wrong in this world, its hard to keep up with the damage. Unfortunately our "centrist" leadership will be the first to defend the practice as "business".

Fuck that shit. It should be outlawed and punishable by prison term.

10. Oh, come on!
It's going to cost Wal-Mart 81 grand to replace a cake decorator who makes $7 an hour? And I guarantee this is not the only entry-level employee Wal-mart collected on that year- just the only one the TV news did a story about.

5. It should be clear...
IF the employee is working for the company, the company does indeed have some loss if an employee dies. The money should cover finding someone and training the replacement. However, when that employee no longer works for that company, the policy should, at that point be null and void. Otherwise, it is just making a profit over someone's death and that, my friends, should be considered fraud as the reason for the policy is no longer valid.

7. Funny, Capitalists loved to say they were ending feudalism...
... and yet here we go, corporate tools thinking it is perfectly OK for corporations to operate under the assumption that paying a wage (as minimal as it may be) entitles ownership of the employee. Same shit, different flashier asshole.

LOL

9. I will offer employees insurance so that when the fat CEO dies from clogged arteries
- employees can make up for the losses of such a valuable asset and collect enough cash to cushion them against possible financial losses due to the loss of such a valuable employee.

And if employees happen to make a good profit from the practice - its only business, after all.
