9. It MUST Have Been One Of them Or COHORTS Of Them!! I LOVE Bernie
Sanders for what he's trying to do and so WISH there were many more of him! When was it that they decided to call him an Independent? I recall when he was ALWAYS known as a Socialist and believe he ran as one AND got elected!

Vermont must be a GREAT state to live in! I drove through there once and it was beautiful, but it has also produced some very FINE politicians over time!

If I lived up there I might just try breaking the law by voting MORE THAN ONCE! As it is, where I live I don't get much choice! I have NEVER voted for ANYONE who won here... Democrats don't win where I live, but even if a Democrat from here WERE to win, it would most probably be a DLC'er or DINO!!

I only have one concern about what Sanders is saying about breaking up "too big to fail" banks and it's this... if they break up, will this mean that the "heads" of them will rake in over-inflated bonuses?? However, I do feel THEY MUST BE BROKEN UP regardless! It's just the cynical side of me, which wasn't a big part of my make-up until BFEE and what I'm seeing now, that makes me think of these things. I generally felt it was better to deal with problems with a "kill 'em with kindness" attitude as opposed to "pulling out my dagger" to win the day!

But KUDOS to Bernie, and many thanks to him... one of the very FEW good guys in D.C.!!

24. Aw Shucks, Thanks! There ARE Times When I Feel Very Lonely Though!
However, many Floridians here at DU have a certain FERVOR and I really LOVE when they make their voice heard!

And funny thing, so many of us are VERY Progressive! I've followed many of their threads and posts and we agree on a great deal. Unfortunately where I live... A LOT of Democrat LITE! But I do live in a county that elected KATHERINE HARRIS... TWO TIMES!

19. Part II is equally shocking ---
Edited on Wed Mar-17-10 02:41 PM by defendandprotect
So not only did government give TRILLIONS to Fed to do whatever they damn

pleased with -- but they continue to refuse to tell us which companies got

the money, how much and at what terms/interest rates??? Conflicts of intrest?

and then there is the "SCAM" . . . .

GOLDMAN SACKS is borrowing money from the Fed at 1/10th of a point itnerest or

one-quarter of a point interest and using it to INVEST IN US TREASURY SECURITIES

at 3.5% or 4% interest!!!

No wonder they're not lending to small businesses!! 3% or 4% interest for doing nothing --

with OUR MONEY!!!

Meanwhile, energy companies are ready to go -- alternatives to fossil fuels -- and they

can't get reasonable financing!!!

Love it also that Bernie Sanders says, "If you're too big to fail" then you're too big to exist!!

Sanders says(obviously) we have to start breaking up these companies now -- mainly 4 financial

companies which if they went down would take economy with them!!

Cost Wall St. $5 BILLION in lobbying in order to bring down rules/regulation which permitted

the activities that brought our economy down -- right now they're spending $300 MILLION in

lobbying Congress!!

Middle Class collapse has been ongoing -- caused by Wall St. Greed!

AND THIS IS SO MUCH WHY WE NEED OUR CONGRESS TO BE TELLING US THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT'S REALLY

GOING ON -- BLESS SEN. SANDERS!!

TAKE ON THE WEALTHY!!

6. So the Supreme Court was involved in the loan sharking business of payday lenders?
Did I hear Sen Sander correctly? I never knew the Dancing Supremes blessed the loan shark business. I wonder how much money they got for that decision? Or maybe it was just Thomas's wife who got paid off.

10. my response
After perusing a bunch of Republican right-wing blogs and
websites, I have come to the following conclusion: Hillary
Clinton was mocked about her assertion that there is a
"vast right-wing conspiracy". The last year+ has
proved her correct.
The right-wing conservatives, dominated by religious fanatics,
in my opinion, want to establish a theocratic dictatorship,
starting with intrusions into public schools through public
funding to establish their brand of religious dogma as school
curricula.
I see a similarity to their approaches with fascism in its
worst form--starting with children, gaining power through
accusations (ie--Cheney's crazy daughter)ala MaCarthyism.

16. The "vast right wing conspiracy" has been out in the open since '63 and the coup . ...
Granted, the right wing conspiracy probably always existed ---

from the Garden of Eden!!

But it came out into the open with the coup on JFK and our "people's" government --

Needless to say, they were assassinating people before that but much more quietly.

From Dag Hammarskjold at UN to Adlai Stevenson ... on and on.

There is only one way that the right wing can rise and that's with violence -

when it isn't actually physical violence, it's other means of doing violence to our

laws, to our government and its agencies, and to regulations intended to constrain them.

Stolen elections, of course.

And, keep in mind that the large computers used by MSM and the electronic voting computers

began to come in during the mid and late 1960's . . . just about the time that we were

passing the Voting Rights Act!! Nixon/Humphrey -- 100,000 votes? Think about it!!

27. Yeah, imagine lifetime employment for doing nothing but "rendering decisions"...
...that your clerks have already drawn up for you.

Imagine appearing once in a while in a black robe and looking "dignified."

Hell, even I would put up with the occasional tongue-lashing of the POTUS or a member of Congress if all I had to do was sit there looking disaffected. I'd be there thinking to myself, "FUCK YOU, ALL!!! I got mine but you'll be gone soon...!"

12. "Deep recession" which Obama called a "DEPRESSION" only two weeks ago . .
That word was almost immediately scrubbed from the article --

and replaced with "recession."

Do you think anyone wants to actually tell us this is a DEPRESSION????

THANK YOU, SENATOR SANDERS!!

13. Fabulous comments -- thank you, Sen. Sanders . . .!!! 19% real unemployment!!
Had no idea that the Supremes overrode the regulations/barriers for credit

card companies!!

Are we saying, then, that Congress cannot apply usury laws at all any longer????

That's insane -- if that's the case, we'd better begin ELECTING the members of

the Supreme Court!!

Credit card companies: Blood Suckers is right!!

Surprised that he thanked Dodd -- though he did add, "Not good enough!"

Wall Street - Gambling Casino --

Do business with credit unions if you possibly can!!

28. Just outstanding you are Bernie! We all know what needs to be done,
that he will be fighting for these initiatives is excellent...at least we have a chance.

I emailed the White House with these 2 clips, and asked for Obama to support Bernie, and dump those tools, Geithner, Summers, and replace them and Bernanke with Joseph Stiglitz and other reputable responsible individuals.

I know, but I am allowed to dream.
