3. I hope the (R)'s don't think this is a way out of perjury because they're in for a BIG surprise
What the Atty. Gen. is fussing and squirming in his seat about is not his desire to keep a secret like data mining ( that every one knows about ) from the congress. Why? Because it's perfectly legal. It's being done on your computer right now with cookies. It can be done by the government through private data collection agencies and a court order. What has the Atty. Gen. HOT is the fact that he knows that the government was involved in illegal data collection of its own! This has been against the law ever since Mr. Nixon tried to become "Emperor for four years at a time" during watergate using the same technique. His argument in front of the Supreme Court :
Executive Privilege allowed him to become in essence "emperor" of the USA for 4 years at a time. They did not buy it. That time. We got the tapes. He got the boot. We thought that these new laws would keep this from happening again. We were wrong. We are more spied on than Nixon ever DREAMED of. Nixon would be in ENEMY LIST HEAVEN with the stuff this president has to play with. With the until recently, complete lack of management, oversight, checks and balances and his use of FEAR in the form of terrorism as a blank check this president has gone where no Nixon has ever gone before. And believe me there are more rights violations yet to come! And laws broken yet to be spoken. The Atty. Gen. is trying to save his A%$ without spilling the beans, but as usual doing his bang up job

watch out for misdirected phone lines, overuse and misuse of executive letters used instead of court issued papers,

watch out for new software that can take thousands of pieces of data,( names, places, birth dates etc.) and find any connection between
any one in the data base in any way, same doctor, same height, were buying socks at Macy's in NYC at 21:21 and 12:32 on the same day etc... Do you think they might like that? Would you like them to have that? Would you like them using that on US citizens?

5. It appears to me that Specter is setting us up for the switch
He is being read into the program of course in secret...now he can say anything * wants him to say and not incur(he hopes) the wrath of his already angry constituents and the rest of the country and convince everyone it was just an honest mistake..That is Specter bushbots m.o. He is always set up to make the save while yelling loudly about the injustice till the last minute.

6. Stunning
Stunning. Spector says he as tried since 2004, when he was
chairman of this committee, to get to the bottom of this story
but he still thinks it's premature to investigate Gonzales! He
wants to give Gonzales a chance. For what?
