Gil Smart says the video of anti-reform demonstrators mocking a Parkinson's victim is a perfect window into the twisted soul of teabag nation.

1. That guy with parkinsons must have been a PR genius |

I almost think that guy with Parkinson's was a PR genius.
He must have known that if one gives these people a chance to be callous assholes, they will take it and go as far as they can. And even the ones that don't will act as apologists for those that do.
Meanwhile something that sensationalistic at a public event will of course be recorded and played over and over, grinding the "assholery" into people's heads over and over.
And the cons, bless them, don't even understand to be embarrassed. They will dig that hole ever deeper.

I've been trying for days to digest the many levels of meaning in this shameful behavior on the video.
Gil does a great job.
here's a couple more things that have struck me.
Isn't what the guy badgering advocates basically the same as euthanasia or even "death panels?" -- If you can't work you deserve nothing, ie. you should be left to die. The exact thing they claim to be so afraid of that this bill will do? (it won't)
on the other hand, isn't that what they are afraid of? Isn't it the teabaggers and the beck nuts who are claiming that the non-existent "goverment take over" will pull the plug on grandma if she's deemed to not have "quality of life"? isn't that what the private insurers are doing now?
regardless of what is actually in this bill, which is it? do they advocate letting people die? or do they want laws that prevent letting people die?
this is something that I see over and over. it sets up a cognitive dissonance in my head that will actually drive me into a deep clinical depression at times. (and for which I received no assistance my entire lifetime, but that's another (long, long) story)
they--the rw flag-waving, bible-thumping, liberty-claiming don't-tread-on-me nut jobs--continuously (and so wrongly) accuse liberals-progressives-democrats-socialists of trying to accomplish that which they so zealously advocate and demonstrate time and time again. They simultaneoulsy champion their own religions convictions and morals (which they demonstrably fail to live up to) as superior while we actually implement those moral ideas in our policies and have a half century of positive results to show for it.
yet we are evil incarnate. we are the 'commie fascists' infringing on their precious liberty because we have the unmitgated gall to suggest they chip in their fair share (thru taxes) to help the unfortunate who they would just as soon see die on the streets?
we are the 'nazi pinkos' who want to further enlarge "big government" and regulate wall street so that more hard-working people (just like themselves) aren't thown out on the streets through no fault of their own and that is somehow more threatening to them than their own prospect of being on the street?
sick bastards.
