That's Nancy Pelosi walking up the steps of the Capitol building, carrying the same gavel used when Congress passed Medicare in 1965.

1. You go, Nancy!
Hey, you Teabaggers -- it's too late. This bill will not be killed.

16. I have to admit I love the victory
It's not exactly what I wanted but I do appreciate the historic significance. Plus, the teabaggers lost. That's sweet :)

2. I'm sorry but am I the only dope that gets teary-eyed when
I see her with Rep. Lewis, and Congressman Obey gives her a kiss on the cheek?
I like historical referencing. I am trying to get some work done today, but keep coming back here to see what's up.
Thanks to whoever filmed this, and thanks for posting babylonsister.

11. It does suck.
Health reform with a public option and single payer is the will of the people, not "this" health reform bill which only favors the insurers.

27. We have to play the game...
...if a simple, public option single payer system was on the table. We would not have gotten this far. Imagine the push-back and the money that would have been against that type of a bill!

24. Because mandating we buy health insurance is SO like universal care
for those over 65 in this country. The insurance "reforms" are weak and many of the most important don't kick in for FOUR years. That's up to 200,000 more people dead for lack of coverage. The only bright spot is that those likely won't be children as they get coverage right away. Insurance will find ways around this language too I suppose. Tax credits do little to help those who are already underwater and out of work.
