10. It's not the water supply, it's her "district"

Take a look at the map of MN's 6th district. It runs from St. Cloud to Stillwater, horseshoing around the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities, and extending west into rural territory. This ensures plenty of solidly Republican votes from mostly-white rural citizens to "upper-middle" income suburbanites who think welfare queens are taking all their tax-money.

It's not completely lost though, as the '08 election showed a pretty close race. And I for one moved out of the solidly progressive 5th district into the 6th for educational opportunities, so at least I'll be cancelling out one of her supporters...

As Stumbler states, the MN 6th is an odd duck, for sure. And as he states, Bachman still barely won the last election with less than 50 percent of the total votes cast (her 46.5 percent to DFLer El Tinklenberg's 43.5 percent).
